Who knows, Michael Bowman may have had the last laugh.
He hasn't paid federal taxes since 1999. Pretty cut 'n dry.
That cool, cuz I don't really believe in laws. It's a religious thing.
I'll make sure to tell the next cop I see to go fuck himself.
He tried a different angle at first then fell back with the abortion argument. He's full of shit and trying to find a loophole.
You legally have to disclose non US bank accounts to Treasury
Dammit! You've just given Bowman his third go-to if this abortion excuse doesn't hold up in court.
Only in the sense that it is far from progressive enough and is not being effectively used to reduce income inequality to acceptable levels.
To be clear, he didn't win on the issue of not owing taxes. He won on the issue of if cashing his checks instead of depositing them is a form of tax evasion since it prevents garnishment.
Also, is this a form of Sharia law?
not going to end well for him, financially I mean of course, nothing is guaranteed but death and taxes.
No, you're getting mixed up Sharia law says that taxes should not be paid in your host country, but must be paid in an Islamic country, also abortion is only legal when child and mother are aborted together at the same time and manner, but only if the the pregnancy was caused by rape, or the abortion is done by a senior male member of the family.
Thanks, I frequently get confused about when using religion to circumvent federal law is acceptable vs. when it's a sign of the apocalypse.
I guess the FEDs couldn't prove intent. Would that be the issue with cashing his checks?
Cashing checks is a legal activity and, just because it makes the fed's job harder, that doesn't make it illegal.
Probably makes it harder on the Feds since he's self-employed.
Yeah, my guess is that he's self-employed and has been operating largely off the radar until the fed's started poking around. Then he started arguing that he shouldn't have to pay taxes to avoid the hefty penalty coming his way and that argument has evolved into this anti-abortion thing probably based on Hobby Lobby's victory re: the ACA.
In the end, he's going to lose.
RIP to this guy
"Only in the sense that..."
You leave absolutely no room to be wrong. So how much effort does it take to be that arrogant and certain of yourself?
I am responding in kind. I am expressing my opinion, based on my own moral values, just as was the author of the post to which I was replying.
Sure, if defense was only spent on defense you would have a point.
