I live in Sweden so MainCard is blacked out on fightpass but I got spoiled of the mainevent so just checked results.

Controversial ending to Makwan vs Knight as I understand but how did Makwan look? He said his striking had improved by very much in a prefight interview.

He won with takedowns. Knight dropped him twice with punches in the first

He tried striking with Knight in the first and that went badly, so he spent the rest of the fight holding Knight on the ground.

Knight shit the bed, in terms of fight IQ, and GAVE the fight to Amirkhani.

In the stand-up exchanges, Jason had the power advantage. But he kept jumping up and pulling guard.

Makwan looked okay, but his strength is definitely in his wrestling, not his striking.

It started off a good exciting fight and ended with Knight pulling guard for no reason and being held down for two rounds.

Makwan’s striking is improved but he got cocky. Got himself a reality check. He turned up his defense after that and didn’t get caught clean again after getting dropped.

He showed good recovery and his cardio looked better too. All in all, he looks to have improved but he shouldn’t rely so much on his striking.

Betch Coheya could help Jason Knight with his fight IQ

His striking didn't look great, to be honest. He landed a few decent jabs early on but didn't really do any damage with his striking. And got knocked down twice with clean shots in the first.

I’m not sure Knight had the power advantage as much as he had a very clear durability advantage. Amirkhani is a glass cannon, and Knight is a durable scrapper. I agree he kind of shit the bed. He could have won this fight.

On the other hand, not many fighters recover from eating that kind of shot. Did you so the way his head jolted? That was a hell of a shot.

So frustrating for Knight to pull guard when Makwan would try some half-hearted takedown when he was clearly winning the standup. Then he couldnt get much going from guard- and Makwan did very little from top. Kinda reminded me of old UFC fights where the wrassler on top wins, no matter what else is happening. Knight def. threw the fight away with his crappy fight IQ as @Arm Barbarian said.

And it was satisfying to see Knight drop him after Makwan was acting like a douche during the bout, especially when he hadn't done anything yet.

In my mind, Knight knew he couldn't stop the take down, and looked fairly exhausted in there. He showed great recovery but he was hurt pretty substantially early on. I think that zapped a lot out of him despite getting those two knock downs after.

He was jumping guard in the consideration that he was going to burn a ton of calories trying to stop the take down (which he failed previously in open water) so why not try to work his submission game etc.

If Knight had more in the tank he may have been more willing to fight off Makwan who was prepared to chain wrestle.

Another odd judging outcome, one judge had it 30-27 Knight and the other two had Mackwan

Clear example of winning a fight by laying on someone.

I don't think Makwan threw more than 3 or 4 punches the entire time he had top control. He was basically defending submission attempts, or being stalemated, the entire fucking time, outside of being rocked twice.

Knight should've won that fight based on activity.
