Machida in his prime vs current LHW division

I'm suprised I haven't heard how underrated Sam Hoger and David Heath were yet.
Not sure if you're trying to sound ironic or not but both these guys were pretty solid.

Heath was 9-0 coming in vs Machida. Finished his career 18-7, which really isn't bad.

Hoger was 5-2, coming off a split dec loss to champ Evans. Finished 10-4, with last 4 being wins.

How about Thiago Silva? Was 13-0 and juiced to the gills when he got KTFO by Lyoto. Beat Jardine, Cavalcante, Soko and Hamill after the Machida loss. Current ACB LHW champ. Still overrated?

Bonnar? Franklin? Greco? Nak? Tito? 13-0 champ Evans? All overrated?

To answer TS' original question:
Pre-T.Silva "boring" Machida beats all of them via elusive point-fighting UD.
Post-Evans "entertaining" Machida goes for the kill and loses to most by GnP.

Phil Davis who barely won a close dec vs Lyoto is also champ - in Bellator.

Kaz Nak post-UFC was also MW champ in DEEP.

If you take a closer look, the majority of Machida's opponents were:
  • undefeated (at the time)
  • hype trains (at the time)
  • current champs
  • former champs
  • future champs

Machida didn't even win most fights impressively, he had to pointfight against ancient Tito and then when he finally committed to trying to put him away, he almost got triangles

I can understand people saying he would win pointfight decisions, but all the "machida would ko...." posts clearly weren't here for his prime when he was decisioning David Heath

Still doesn't change the fact that Machida looked like he was sick or something. Not a good night for Lyoto.

I think he was. Shogun never earned a title shot in UFC with any of his shameful fights. Display doesn't belong in UFC or Bellator. His handlers need to protect him from himself. Too tough for his own good. Brawler at best.

Because fighters don't get better? Are you brain damaged or low functioning autistic?

Karate fighters point fight. Not everyone has the Mcgoat tough of death. Use your head brah.

TRT Machida is GOAT. Would hit Hendo unconscious who posted a 9-12 UFC record on TRT and 0-4 in title shots. Try again.

when do you consider his prime then? after he got beat out of 205? or when he was at 205 and pointfighting

Most male primes are between 25-28. Some are able to hold on longer 28-32. When did DLH decline? Mosley? How about Jones Jr.? Anderson slipped long before he started losing. He got rocked by Sonnen who has the punching power of a small female child. Silva use to spar HWs with no head gear. Stood and walked through H bombs no problem before flooring him and finishing him on TRT by the way. Machida peaked before being in UFC. He was never a big banger.

Edit; There are outliers like Mike Tyson that peaked at like 18/19 and declined. I am one to day JJ peaked awhile ago and the fall is around the corner. The party boy lifestyle speeds up that process as test drops off.

You bitch and complain about Mcgoat, a guy who had that touch of death. Support fighters like GSP who pepper jabs and dry hump, and TJ the Snake &&& dry hump Dillashaw. Guys like Neck Tats Garbrandt and Mcgoat are outliers. Not everyone had that touch of death.

I think Prime Machida beats the eye poke warrior. Posting pics of beating dinosaurs is not impressive.

im a huge mcgregor fan and talk shit on GSP all the time. idk why you went off the deepend there

DC takes him down and he doesn't get back up. Rumble overwhelms him and knocks him out. Gustafsson frustrates him. He beats everyone else though.

Machida was sick against Shogun?

Ugh...Couldn't just be that Shogun was the best striker he'd faced to that point.

Shotokan>>>>wrestling.

I love sherdog.
