Lyoto says he's making twice more $ with one single sponsor than he did in two UFC bouts with Rebook

"And these guys are getting all the money from the Reebok deal. All the money goes to them. What better of a deal could you cut for the guys? It's an investment in the future of the sport."

Which is why, say, Rory MacDonald went to Bellator, despite holding a win over the current WW champ in the UFC

How much does Dana give you per post here?

There's a handful that are still OK but the rest have one foot out of the door.

ts, you did a double multiply in your thread title.

double what he made in two bouts would be 4X 1 bout. lyoto says 'surpass what he made in 2 bouts'

his last bout in the ufc he made 20k 'incentive pay'

meaning one sponsor is paying him more than 40k for one fight.

twice more than what he did in 2 rebook fights still sounds like shit

Going to Bellator is usually a good move for your retirement parade. UFC is just like NBA or NFL. They take your prime years then cut you loose.
You can't leave the NBA or NFL and make more money in another league though.
Guys who sit on the bench make significantly more than any "star" in another feeder league.

I mean I can throw actual numbers out to show what I'm talking about.

The highest paid player in the CFL is Toronto Argonauts quarterback Ricky Ray. He's played in the league for 17 years. He's probably the biggest star in the CFL.
He makes $400,000 a year.

The 2nd string quarterback on the Dallas Cowboys is named Cooper Rush. He's never played a single snap in a regular season game ever. He's been in the league for 1 year. Nobody knows who the hell this guy is. He makes $550,000 a year.

Good for Machida. Its better to be big fish in a small pond than a small fish in a big pond.

Twice what he got from Reebok? So like, 50 bucks?

The Reebok deal is truly one of the worst things the UFC ever did. It really hurt the guys begging for bonuses to pay their rent and bills. And all because Zuffa was planning to sell the UFC and wanted to get every dollar they could before they did. And have no doubt that where's all the real Reebok money went. Their separate "official sponsor" deal with Zuffa, not the bs deal announced publicly for the fighters.

Lyoto explained that the contract with only one sponsor for his debut against Rafael Carvalho on December 15 will outpay what he made in two UFC bouts by Reebok. In his last bout for Ultimate, the knockout over Vitor Belfort in May, the payout of the sports equipment company was $20,000.

"That's I can guarantee. Only one sponsor of mine is already going to surprass what I did in two fights with Reebok for sponsorship. The financial value, for people who are athletes, is very important, this part of sponsor. Not only do you contribute financially, but you can also contribute with the brand that sponsors you, divulge, enter as if it were something natural of the sport. And, financially speaking, as I said, the doors will open more and more, "he said.

Despite the fact that he does not complain about the time he was in the UFC, Machida did not deny that he is happier at Bellator. He said he does not intend to fill his whole fighting materials with sponsors, but hopes to secure enough support to maintain the high level of training and overall preparation.

"I can't forget to mention that I am very happy for Bellator to have this opening of sponsorships. If I advocate a brand, I want to show my brand. If I defend my flag, which is the Machida Karate, I want to wear it in my kimono, I want to have that freedom, it's not just financially what I'm talking about. You can defend your brand, come in kimono, do things different from the UFC era ... And unfortunately that was banished there. So, being able to contribute to the brands, to somehow repay the support of my sponsorship is fundamental, "he said.

Anyone could tell you he would be making 5x as much with just one sponsor when the deal first got announced. Reebok clearly made out like bandits only having to pay 15 million a year for exclusive sponsorship.

The UFC didn't care. They just wanted to cut into their fighters pay even more to land some extra profit, while pretending that getting "official uniforms" makes them a legitimate sport when they give guys with no wins in 8 years and positive steroid tests title shots.

Rory made a ridiculous amount of money from his sponsor too. I think he said like 300k in their crypto (which i imagine he cashed out immediately)

inb4 UFC SHILL @FrankieNYC finds a way to shit on bellator

I believe it. If someone as universally hated as Schaub was makin $100,000 in sponsors, it doesnt suprise me that Lyoto is makin a nicer chunk of change in Bellator than in UFC with Reebok

Good for him he was nowhere close to a marketable star so if he can get some company to lose money on him that is great.
