Lindsey also tagged Dana White on his Twitter post, asking that the UFC president teach Mayweather “how to pay his tab and tip my staff.” White, commendably, is known as a generous tipper. He said in a text message last week that he was aware he had been tagged in Lindsey’s tweet and that when he read it he was not upset but felt Station Casinos co-owners Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta III would be.

Yeah, insulting mega celebrity guests really isn't a good career move if you're in the Vegas hospitality business.

Also, having money is racist.

Remember the butthurt waitress who thought she was gonna get a bazillion dollars from Floyd?

Boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. rang up a bill of $25,300 in food and booze at Rehab at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas and didn’t tip a cent, according to TMZ. Oh, and this came hours after he earned $32 million for defeating Marcos Maidana to remain undefeated.

I could understand if it were in L.A or N.Y but Mayweather could literally get away with murder in LV. He's brought millions upon millions to that city. The GM deserved to be fired simply for stupidity.

i've never heard anything about mayweather being stingy, maybe this is true but if anything, mayweather, along with most boxers are too fooolish with money, most of them were known to throw it away, generously to their own detriment. so, for all his faults, no, that's not one of them. so, if he did it, it's out of character.

Rule #1 in Las Vegas...

Don't mess with the money.

A larger percentage of African Americans don't tip well(or at all for that matter) compared to other races, many articles have been written about it.

That said, GM should have be fired

Good tipping sucks

Mr pink was always right

Such a great scene because it’s brought up pretty often when eating out with friends and it turns into exactly the same argument as in the movie.

Some guy always thinks he’s an edgelord by taking Mr. Pinks stance, decent people tell him he doesn’t know what the hell hes talking about and then he tips...but only because everybody else is throwing in

that's very true, hate to admit it because I love black folk but they are generally horrible tippers. one time i was at a denny's with my best friend who's black, I chided him for not tipping and said "you have no class" he said "if i had any class I wouldn't be eating at Denny's". It's funny though, you never do know, with some of the labor work I've done, almost everyone tips, all races. With the food delivery I'm doing now, almost no one tips but the two bigger tips I've gotten have ironically come from black people, one for ten, the other for twenty. You just never know. I always expect East Indians to be cheap and they usually are but sometimes they tip too. Like I say, it's difficult to generalize because at some point you'll be dead wrong.

This post reminded me of the “funny how?” scene in Goodfellas when Pesci told the manager to fuck off when he was being told about an unpaid tab.

Edit* Jesus fucking christ, I just read the article, they put Floyd on blast for an alleged unpaid tab of about 1,700 lol

"When you go out to eat in a restaurant, it is customary to tip at least 15-20 percent. Research from Cornell University shown that 70% of whites know that compared to only 35% of blacks."

Based on numerous studies(like the cornell one above) I don't think it's unfair to generalise that blacks don't tip well.
That is a fair, honest statement based on scientific research and numerous anecdotal accounts, mine includes

The problem with the current tipping system is it perpetuates a cycle of bullshit.

The whole restaurant setup here in the U.S. is a bit silly imo.

Tip means, To Insure Prompt Service”, if server give someone great service they should be tipped under the current system, to not do so is an insult to the server. If only 35% know the correct guidelines, how will it ever fix itself?

I seen Kanye West come into a restaurant I worked 3 days in a row, leave 0.00 tip everyday, it is very weird to me

Seeing servers argue over who has to take a table, well that is shitty too, talk about some racist bullshit.
I never played that game, treat everyone the same. I did have one time I had 6 different tables of black people(because all the servers bitched when they would come in, cept me so host sat them all with me, gave everyone great service, nobody tipped me and one table was dollar short of paying their bill.)
I still have to tip busser and bartender based on sales, so basically i paid like 30 bucks to wait on people for 2 hours.

Servers get like 2.13 an hour in many states btw

Obviously employer has to make up the difference if you don't make minimum wage when averaged over the pay period.
Like in my above example, with the 6 tables, that day I lost money, next day make like 400 in tips, all gets averaged together.

There should be no tip system, just pay the staff and don't count on the patrons, add the costs to the food.

i'm with you, not arguing. in my city the min wage is 15p/hr and i constantly see arguements about tipping in the seattle cl rants and raves, it's shocking to see how many people think it's fine not to tip, just assholes. I always tip unless someone has really done something insulting, which might have happened only once or twice in my life. What i'm doing now, i was surprised how few people tip, it's ok, i'm not doing it long but i'm not even making 10 bucks an hour. kinda surprised how entitled some of these folks are.

it's always been a tip setup as long as i've been alive, i have no problem with it and usually give well over the 15-20 percent or whatever it is that people expect.

I meant when I travel to other countries I have noticed some didn't do the tip system, I prefer that to our system. Even in fine dining situations the racsim is staggering sometimes. Just somewhat disconcerting about seeing people get upset when they have to wait on a person of color.

I had an elderly black couple give me a 100dollar tip, they were on vacation, and told me I was the only person who treated them well their whole trip when they went out to eat. I was a bartender then, and waited on them in a servers section cause sever didn't want to take them ...
That was just bullshit

I agree that refusing to tip despite receiving good service is a cunty thing to do.

BUT....the whole idea of customary tipping is bizarre, backwards, and just a dumb concept. What other service industry is the customer expected to tip and chastised for not paying extra?

In an ideal society, tipping is reserved as a genuine act of gratitude or appreciation. Hence the meaning of paying extra.

The onus of paying workers a living wage should fall solely on the place of employment and not the patrons/customers.

Shit is ridiculous but we all support this retarded business model so it will never go away.

Tipping is bizare, and confusing, raise the price of the food accordingly!!
if plate costs 14.99 and I am expected to tip, just make the meal an even 20.00 and pay the service staff a normal wage so I don't have to tip.

You know TIPS actually means To Insure Proper Service?

I hate how having a double yellow you can't edit your posts... That is some #1bullshit
