Let's get down to it: What's the real definition of "Gatekeeper"?

Where's Nate Diaz's title?

Fuck Conor btw

Titles don't mean shyt. Nate has fought more times in UFC and tougher competition than practically 99% of roster. He didn't play it safe like the bums u worshipp who's records consist of 90% cans.

Nate Diaz beat the guy with belt TWICE.

..and all of a sudden Conor comes in the thread like a ninja

So what does that make Conor who lost to gatekeeper TWICE?

A journeyman consistently ranked around 10th in the division

Someone getting title shots and losing them isn't a gatekeeper if they're top 5, you goofs calling Frankie a gatekeeper? Big LOLs

I've been getting some shit from sherbros due to my definition of "Gatekeeper".
For me it means someone who is between the mid-table and top ranked fighters who always fall short of getting the title or have got a title shot but never winning it. Someone like Cerrone, Gustafson..
What's your definition of "Gatekeeper"?

gate·keep·er
ˈɡātˌkēpər/
noun
  1. an attendant at a gate who is employed to control who goes through it.
    • a person or thing that controls access to something.
"the primary-care doctor serves as the gatekeeper to specialists"
You are welcome brother

Keith Jardine

Wouldn't call Gus a Gatekeeper.. maybe to getting a titleshot, but he is Elite, top 3 at LHW.

What I think of as a Gatekeeper is someone who's never gotten close to a title but you'd have to face at some point to get into or past the lower top 10.

Like a journeyman of the top of the division.

Someone ranked anywhere from 10-7, maybe a little lower depending on where they are in their career.

This.

How is Gus or Frankie a Gatekeeper. Challenging for the title or even holding it at one point doesn't you're a gatekeeper.

It's funny how people refer to Michael Johnson as a gatekeeper when he is Khabibs career defining victory and he beat Tony Ferguson.

So I guess the rankings don't mean jack shyt.

Cause if gatekeepers are beating number 1 and number 2 guys...then what does that make the fighters who gatekeepers beat?

The reality is that the term gatekeeper is misused by salty trolls who have never been in a street fight let alone stepped into the cage.

At this level there are no REAL gatekeepers. Styles make fights. Anyone in top 10 can lose to anyone in top 10 at any point.

Everyone knows? Or just you Yellowcard

Yea that's a real decisive victory. Especially when u were choked out first fight, nearly finished AGAIN second fight and bish slapped throughout both bouts. I'm sure Conor will be eager to show his son those two fights.

A gate keeper is someone you have to beat to crack the elite rankings. Roy Nelson is a good example. Every top HW had to beat up Roy. Its like a rite of passage.

Take a breath mate, chill I guarantee his son will care less than you do

A D-level bum that should retire immediately

Donald Cerrone has been for a while imo. I was really hoping he would get a belt and hold it for a while but I just can't see it happening anymore.

His son will know the truth as do all salty Conor fanboys. Hence all the Diaz hate. Truth hurts.

Nate walked through all of Conors (midget sleeping) superman punches to sleep him first fight and was seconds away from sleeping him 2nd fight.
