Again two movies built around a similar premise, giving hope to people during the worst of times. In Life is Beautiful it's a concentration camp, in Jakob The Liar a Polish ghetto.
One movie is universally praised and won the awards. The other was a box office bomb. Both went into production around the same time, so which do you prefer?
I'd be surprised if La Vita doesn't get the nod in a landslide, it's also my favorite, but I feel Jakob has gotten a bad rep and is better than most make it out to be. That goes double for Williams in the lead.
