Doesn't help that one of the child pornography images, which were totally for undercover purposes, saved on his computer, was accessed multiple times within 2 weeks. Can't remember if it was 5 or 7

I dunno much about the guy, just looked up his twitter, read what it's about skimmed the link he posted on the story from 10 years ago.

At a surface level just looks like shit to me.

If you google around you will find that other pedo-busters grew suspicious of his "methods" back then, way before wikileaks and before he became a notorious twitter troll.

This year he was caught looking at some very creepy, pedo-suggestive hentai and came up with the bizarre story that he was looking at it with his own children to "show them it exists".

When confronted by Moran about these two articles, Eichenwald allegedly offered Moran a job to stay quiet and warned him "if you go public you’ll regret it".

On 21 July 2017, the lawsuit was settled to Moran's satisfaction.

Also had a twitter user arrested for "cyber stalking" after they posted a strobe gif to joke about his epilepsy. Since viewing the gif required clicking to activate, most speculate that he never looked at it and just saw an opportunity to have someone arrested for publicity.

He is pretty emotionally unhinged and believes "white supremacists colluding with Russia" run the united states, is engaged in innumerable longterm feuds with random teenagers on social media.

I'm no lawyer but it seems 100% illegal. Can I be an undercover drug dealer as a private citizen? Even if it's just to rat everyone out? Lol. I can't even imagine a situation he would be asked by any law enforcement to help.
