Kids today are weaksauce; Millennials attack James Bond

Remember when no one wanted Daniel Craig to play bond? He wasnt even the studios first choice as they wanted Hugh Jackman.

Sometimes the actor doesnt bring the character to new heights....its the other way around.

True, but Craig was in his late 30's when he made CR. Elba is 45, and they won't even consider making a Bond movie with him for at least two years. Roger Moore was able to play the role in his 50's, but audiences back then were somewhat more forgiving. Today, playing Bond requires a level of physicality that a middle aged man would find difficult to sustain. Craig himself noted that this was one of the hardest things about playing Bond; he was literally beaten up by the end of the Spectre, and required surgery for injuries he picked up.

This is true, but Elba may well be the most physically conditioned of any of the bonds, even at his age.

This is sacrilage for a Scot to admit but...I think Craig in Casino Royale had the GOAT Bond physique. Connery was actually a competitive Bodybuilder before taking up acting, but had stopped training before he made Dr No.

Without Dalton returning the franchise to serious thrillers, there’d be no Bond and certainly no Craig.

Agree they couldn’t keep up the goofiness. But License to Kill was the lowest grossing Bond ever, and put the whole franchise on hold for 6 years. He was the dullest Bond and they took all of the charm out of the subject matter. He wasn’t even likeable.

Times are different.

I made a thread not to long ago that Rocky sexually assaults (by todays standards) Adrian.

Bond was never meant to be charming, cheeky or likeable. He was meant to be a flint-hard bastard. A boozing misogynist killer. Dalton’s Bond was the closest to fleming’s character.

I’d agree Licence to Kill was a mess, but it was also the only 15-rated movie in the series, and Benicio was an excellent henchman. The Living Daylights was a superb movie, criminally overlooked when the movies are ranked.

Anyway, Elba , Craig etc are all far too old. They need to cast someone in their 20s - Nicholas Hoult, for example - who can do a stack of movies without looking like an old man searching viagra.

Connery nailed it in his first outing with the infamous, "And you've had your six" scene:cool:

Millenials prefer metrosexual trannies over hetero males you old fucks

James Bond is just a code name

Anybody can be James Bond

Skyfall sucks
Dumbass alert!

It's not. James Bond is a given name. He is one man.
In movies and books.
You are either stupid enough to mixup bond and Jason Bourne or you are using mental gymnastics to sjw cast who ever fits your agenda.<3>

I'd be happy for them to do Muslim Bond just so the series could keep the essential misogyny and mild sexual abuse without these feminist complaints

Like this one. Perfect.

People always complained about everything. Difference now is everyone has a platform them and anonymous idiots can bandwagon on board. It's slowly but steadily creating an environment of censorship that stamps out opposing view points. It's why I have no twitter and deleted my Facebook.

True, despite the millennial protests bond is actually meant to be charming/chivalrous when it comes to women and even men he likes/respects. He doesn’t sleep with the teen in for your eyes only for example. Dalton played the cold aspects of the character but eliminated the charm.

People born after 2000 aren’t millennials. People born before 2000 aren’t kids. Conclusion: kids today aren’t millenials. There’s a newer generation we millennials can now blame all our problems on.

Nah. It's you and the baby boomers.

Still. I wish you all the best.

According to what, Fleming’s novels? Bond is cold because he has to be, he suspects he will be dead by 45 and a lasting woman and family seem impossible to him.

To many of the people he meets/works with he is charming, polite and friendly though. He treats his secretary better than any of the mad men lot. He makes friends with Felix Leiter and gets along well with allied foreign intelligence agents/personnel he works with on missions, gets along well with his boss M and has a close and affectionate relationship with M’s secretary money penny. He is brusque with waiters/barmen but men who are tasked with serving him personally (or respected porters in clubs/casinos etc) are treated handsomely by Bond. He takes quarrel with him on his paid leave at the end of live and let die, for example.

He’s got plently of pre/post war Noir hyper macho sensibility but the man is clearly the hero of the tale and loved and or respected by any character with half a clue in the novels.

Exactly....he does what he needs to do to get the job done....sometimes that means being a charmer. Sometimes it’s an assasin. Your point about Dalton is exactly my sentiments. Doing research on the novels, Bond was a drinker and smoker. 6ft 168 pounds and dark featured. He has moments in the books where he claims he doesn’t kill in cold blood and even misses on purpose a few times. He is a foodie and is charming in social situations. He seems to be nice and polite to co workers and those he needs things from. But he is complex and can be cruel.

Dang Sean Connery didn't give a fuck with Walters trying to give him that look to make him feel shame but he didn't back down

He gave absolutely zero fucks.

I love how he just nods and is like, "Yeah. . . I have not changed my opinion at all."
