The only reason I'm not looking at another SLR is I want a different look. I really dig the mk8 and the mrex I also like that they bolt to the barrel nut, or have a very secure mounting system. I also like the Griffin Armament low pro rigid rail. All the really good rails are expensive though the MREX isn't to bad.

I like a longer rail since I have longer arms and typically c clamp. The geissele at 9.5 is half inch shorter than I really want. The MREX is 11 inch which is perfect the Griffin is 10.5 which will work.

I'm torn on a muzzle device. Concussion doesn't bother me (everyone else hates my jcomp ALOT)
Been looking at various linear compensators and some standard comps and I'm not 100% sure yet.

    https://www.cbcindustries.com/products/hera-arms-cc-competition-compensator-5-56-223

I like that and feel like it wouldn't be to bad.

I forgot it needs a brace too. I like the tailhook mod2 for that.

Be careful with the type of muzzle on the longer handguards. Linear comps will be fine but that hera could end in

Yeh, I've done some dumb shit but not that dumb. I'd only have it inset in the handguard if it were a linear comp.

I like the Griffin Armament linear comp and there minimalist break. Would also allow for a Griffin suppressor in the future.

This is really flashy looking but I think Falkors blast cap looks very interesting.

So, I'm building that AR pistol and the BCM Upper I am looking at (complete upper) can come with their comp. Anyone have any experience with this item and is it worth me upgrading to it over the standard A2?

Do you want flash suppression? Recoil mitigation? Blend of both, which would you prefer over the other?

It's not a particularly good flash hider or comp. There are better options. It's got much more recoil reduction vs A2 and a lot less flash suppression.

    Compared to the bcm

Battle comp would be 50% less recoil but worse flash.

PWS FSC556 is 62% less recoil much worse flash.

PA EFAB is better flash suppression and 46% less recoil

I hadn't seen that one and will have to take a look.

I wouldn't mind a bcm m lock rail if they make it out soon enough.

I love those tests and wish they'd do another new one. It's what made me get my jcomp.

I did. I like the lilja heart breaker especially since it had a .750 width so a .750 gas block would fit over it on a 14.5 pinned and welded. If I did my build over again I'd do a lilja heat breaker pinned and welded to a 14.5 ballistic advantage 223 Wylde barrel.

See... with an 11.5" barrel I'm not sure what I'd need.

Kind of forgot about the 11.5". PWS and BCE comp aren't good choices.

A muzzle brake without a suppressor is going to be very loud/concussive.

The EFAB is quite spendy but it's a great option. Should keep flash well under control ^(notice the 10.5" flash picture) and help with rise and recoil without being teeth rattling. It will still be noticeably louder/concussive vs a quality flash hider.

Otherwise a quality flash hider is probably your best bet. Less concussion, noise, etc.

I've been leaning towards something from AAC in case I ever decide to get a suppressor then I have the muzzle drive already on my gun.

For short barrels a muzzle brake is best with a can if you plan on using the can a lot. Flash hider on sbr will damage/erode the can faster.

Silencerco for example gives you a muzzle device with suppressor purchase. From silencer shop aac ships the sdn 6 with a muzzle device. Not sure if others do it as well.

So I guess the question is,

Do you plan on getting a suppressor soon? If not the EFAB, surefire warcomp, etc could be a good choice. It would be a lot flatter/smooth shooting in the time between now and supressor. You can always use it on something else later, especially if your supressor comes with a device.

Would you basically always use the supressor on your sbr (a lot of people do this)? If so get a muzzle brake for it when you get the suppressor. If not the warcomp could be a good choice for suppressed/unsurpassed work.

Suppressor is a couple years out. I like my JP flash hider on my current gun so I may grab that again

May get made fun of because it's not high end ,but I have an AR stoner 10.5 inch barrel coming.

So far the parts list looks like:

    Aero lower
Milspec fcg w Taylor tactical spring kit
    Hogue pistol grip
Outdoor sports pistol buffer tube kit
    Cmmg lower parts kit
Strike industries enhanced pivot and take down pins
    LBE unlimited upper (lapped)
    Fail zero bolt carrier group
    Milspec charging handle

Any reason you didn't pair the aero lower with an aero upper?
