Ken Shamrock has 17 losses, but Bas Rutten couldn't beat him

He may have that many losses, but he was an absolute beast back in his hayday.

Ken never fought Bas in actual MMA. Pancrase simply does not count. Moon boots and no punching to the head makes it stupid

It was a glitch, a hiccup.

Rest assured thought - he'd beat your ass TS even as an old man.

Bas lost to Ken very early in his career. So Bas wasn't at his best yet. Plus, many of Ken's losses came at the end of his career, when he was way over the hill.

So it's not an accurate representation of either fighters skills when they were at their best. Ken at his best was way better than what his 17 losses suggest.

Prime Ken Shamrock was an absolute beast.

Like 90% of those losses came after he was a senile man tho.

I'm pretty sure Bas was really, really green on ground technique when he faced Ken, although that way *way* before I became a fan.

I don't think we got anything close to a prime Bas vs. prime Ken matchup. Sort of like how we never got prime Werdum vs. prime Nog, even though they faced off twice each.

Those were early losses.

Most people don’t realize Bas went undefeated in his last 21 fights.

Bas started out with the same grappling credentials as James Toney.

When he learned the basics he never lost again.

Majority of his losses came after his wrestling stint which basically ruined his knees and back. Basically fought Tito on one good leg

Completely agree. Especially if you watch his pancrase matches. He was very fast and agile for a guy his size.

Ken Shamrock was the Dennis Hallman to Bas Rutten's Matt Hughes.

So does this mean Bas is slightly overrated?

No....... It just means he Stacked an Incredible amount of Steroids for long periods of time. Test with winny, with deca and probably something else. Along with that he took a pile of anti estrogens... He was More Body and Juice than Skill..IMO......After Bas learned some ground skills. Bas did amazing with No ground knowledge...Bas got Better... Shamrock got worse.
