The implication I'd say is that her intelligence(plus maybe independence) is significantly lower than Ava's to the degree he didn't consider her a threat, which she arguably wouldn't have been without the interaction with Caleb and Ava. He underestimates her the same way he underestimates Caleb.

Of course the film turns it around and also shows us that Caleb's driven by a rather selfish white knight fantasy.

In the end, she was smarter than Poe though and was true AI since she took advantage of both of them to escape the compound.

I think in the ginger's mind, he was just going to rescue her and return to the city with her as his new, hot girlfriend. Poe would have survived in his compound. The plan was to get her out while he was drunk.

Caleb falling for Ava and her manipulating him to escape is exactly what Poe planned as a test of her having true AI, what he didn't plan for was Caleb going into action as early as he did putting the lock override into the system whilst he was drunk and indeed on him interacting with his pleasurebot.

Some people said things may eventually unlock... can't remember the logic behind that theory unless it was him scheduling the lockdown to end.

In a way, the creator guy had it coming. He knew AI was a threat to humans and still pushed to create one. I genuinely believe people like that should not live. The naive ones who push forward and think there is no threat, too.
