Just rewatched the dark knight rises.

That one line of dialogue has always bugged me.

"If I pull that off will you die?"
"It would be extremely painful."

"You're a big guy." wtf?

yes big dudes don't feel pain from getting something ripped off their faces, because, big.

He was talking about his penis

I always liked this movie.

Watching Bruce become born again and become Batman again after he got outta the hole was some great cinema.

Talia is a weak villain and Anne Hathaway is just the wrong choice for Catwoman - incredibly bland actress, imo. A lot of Alfred's dialogue is too on the nose as well and pretty laughable during repeat viewings (though Caine does his best).

The opening with the plane coming apart is great and Bane works well, though it's sometimes obvious Hardy is standing on steps and ladders in order not to appear as a manlet. Hardy and Nolan should be commended for making the part work what with the long shadow of Heath Ledger lying over the movie.

The middle east part made no sense and, like the casino part in the Last Jedi, should just have been cut.

Overall, not a bad movie, though.

Begin > DKR

My main gripe with DKR is that there were too many characters so the depth weren't explored. Catwoman and Blake's exclusion to the story will not compromise the plot, give more screen time to Bane and Miranda/Talia. It'd make the heel turn must more impactful.
Second gripe, although affect the overall experience less, still an eyesore is the shitty action choreography between Batman and Bane. Finally, we are suppose to see an archenemy that can go toe to toe, or even surpass Batman in hand to hand combat, we instead got something akin to brawl between drunkards.

Rises is undoubtedly the most flawed of Nolan's trilogy.

But as far as 3rd movies go in action trilogies/series go, its FAR from the worst.

i cant think of a single good thing about this film . It was a huge fucking boring shit show from the beginning to end and was a serious chore to finish. Never seen a movie that costly come off like a cheap poorly edited mess.

Actually i take that back as the other poster noted Michael Caine's emotional parts were top notch. But everything else MIERDA!!!

I am a Big Tom Hardy fan as well and they somehow managed to have a brilliant actor on their set and fucked that all up with that horrendous take on Bane.

So much overreaction; movie is no where near trash level. Yes there were some issues but to call it a horrible is too much. Go and watch BVS and get back to me.

The FBI agent in the beginning of the film was not believable at all.
You can't be that fucking insecure and scared about transporting prisoners when you're working for the Federal Bureau.
They are trained on how to neutralize threats, not panic at the first sign of hostility.

Thought id give it another look, some thoughts.

The movie had a lot of potential and probably could have been great with better editing.

There is a lack of character development. Example: Talia has 1 or 2 interactions with Bruce Wayne, and then she shows up at his house in the rain randomly and they have sex by the fire...but there was absolutely no believable connection built between them before this scene.

Also, Catwoman just appears all of a sudden with her Catwoman gear. No build up or explanation of how she even got a costume.

- Blake knowing he was batman right away was a little shallow. It would have done more for his character if he revealed it later.

- the football scene was cool but cheese.

- Bane was great, and his beat down of batman is the best in the movie, but his voice sucks and was too obnoxious for my tastes.

- Catwoman was sexy af.

- batman climbing out of the hole and then showing up to gotham made no sense. How did he get back?

- they expect me to believe a 10 year old malnourished little girl was able to climb out of the hole?

- the "Robin" reveal at the end was corny as hell.

Overall, the stuff with Alfred was the best as Caine really shows his mastery when he has those touching scenes with Bruce.

Second veiwing still the worst of the trilogy, but not the worst batman. IMO it ranks even with Batman 89.

They were never gonna live up to the one with the joker guy who killed himself.

I always though the ending shot in the french coffee shop would have played better if you just ended on alfreds reaction to what he saw and NOT have shown bale with catwoman being happy.

And no stupid robin scene

I think the movie really suffered from Heath Ledger's death.

It's pretty obvious to my mind that Nolan originally planned some sore of denouement involving the Joker for the third film and had to scrap that plan after Ledger's death (Which I just realize happened a decade(!) ago. Time flies).

Since they couldn't hope to replace Ledger with anyone else given all the hysteria following his passing, Nolan had to take things in a different direction.

I honestly don't think The Joker was considered outside of the cameo in the courtroom, that he gave to Scarecrow. That was clearly supposed to be a Joker scene.

Nolan doesn't strike me as someone to play it safe. I think the movie would've been relatively the same had Ledger not died.

This.

Ever since I saw it in theaters for the first time. This scene is the first that pops into my head whenever DKR is mentioned.

I did not notice any ladders poking out at the edge of the scenes.
I think youre subconsciously allowing your knowledge of Tom Hardy's actual height to affect your view of the movie.

That's a good point. It has to live up to not only the previous 2 films but also Nolans work.

I think they were intending something different before Ledger passed. They should have used Two Face as the villain, but they killed him off in TDK which was imo a mistake
I agree about Ledger, I believe the plan was for him to be in the role the Scarecrow had but much larger. Basically the worst inmate running the asylum. It would have been cool to see Bane be like I've had enough of your shit and just kill The Joker .I think they handled the Harvey Dent-Two Face story angle the best they could in Nolan's realistic Batman universe. No way was the district attorney going to suddenly become a crime boss because he got an acid burn on his face. He got his revenge and died like he should have.

I think Bane is a terrific villain, a guy who can outsmart and outfight Batman and beat him where he's best. It's just a shame that Banes plot was so retarded. The basis of it was cool, come to avenge Ras Al Ghul and fulfill his destiny. But the entire thing with having to hijack the city for three months to wait to detonate a bomb just didn't work.

It's a shame because it had all the elements to be an epic movie but it was so poorly written and paced that it was all wasted.

In the "do you feel in charge scene" it's quite obvious he is standing two steps up compared to the guy he is talking to. I even noticed it when I was watching it originally and I didn't even know that Tom Hardy was a manlet back then.

I listen to that dialogue and still, to this day, don't even really get it.

I mean Bane says it would be extremely painful, Littlefinger suggests it wouldn't be because Bane is a big guy and Bane says "for you."

So is Bane saying it would be extremely painful for Littlefinger to try to take that shit off of him (that is, a warning of the- "if you try to remove the mask, I'll kill you" variety) or is he emphasizing he is a big guy compared to Littlefinger.

Obviously the former makes more sense but the placement of Littlefinger's line, interrupting the flow of Bane's makes no sense to me.

Bane was too small. On tv, it's more noticeable.

JGL should have transitioned to nightwing, and had an acrobatic background.

Bane should have had venom.. With all the BS, PEDs are something REAL they could have thrown in.. They could have had hardy, but a giant roid head for a fight scene or two; that last fight scene doesn't hold up on the small screen.

I spent a lot of time defending it. It wasn't terrible. But why wouldn't they have scarecrow put on his mask to scare those convicted? So easy, so right there, so absent.
