It really depends on where you live, the area isn't very big (miles wise) but you can spend alot of time in traffic.

    That being said.

    Ground Control is in Baltimore.

Lloyd Irvin is in Camp Springs.

    Evolve is in Gaithersburg.

    Yamasaki is in Rockville.

If you are just starting out any of these places is good, I would pick the one that is closest to you. No reason for a beginner to spend over an hour sitting in traffic to attend classes. Just my opinion though.

Lots of Judo in the Beltsville/College Park area if you can't find any BJJ.

If you're looking to fight, I have to say Ground Control is a good bet.

We have numerous guys who fight amateur as well as pro. One of our fighters, Binky Jones, just won his debut with ShoXC.

I used to work in Beltsville and train at Lloyds. It's not too bad of a commute.

if you're looking for a pure bjj school theres also 88bjj.com Team 88 which is a lloyd irvin satellite school. Its run by Julius Park, one of lloyd's brown belts.

I train at Evolve in Gaithersburg and the instruction is second to none. I'm a fighter and train with many great fighters there. Lloyd Irvin is another GREAT place to go train. It might be over priced like your saying, but go check it out and you'll see exactly why....Lloyd is an incredible teacher and fighter. Great guy too...And as for the guy from Ground Control who won his debut in ShoXC...So did Wilson Reis who represents team Lloyd Irvin/Evolve...

    With Respect,
    -Ray
