Well-known Russian promoter Vladimir Hryunov, who is back into a tip-top shape after some time off from the public scene, is getting ready to hit bxoing with a bang.

Hryunov revealed to Igor Lazorin of the TASS media agency that a new event is being planned in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, which will take place on October 3.

Headlining the show is reportedly an iconic American veteran in Zab “Super” Judah (43-9, 30 KOs), who is 39 years of age and turns 40 three weeks after the pre-planned event. Former light welterweight and undisputed welterweight king Judah is said to be fighting 32-year old former amateur standout Ramal Amanov (10-0, 1 KOs), a native of Ganja, Azerbaijan.

Judah fought in January of this year, picking up an easy TKO win in what was his first figh since losing to Paulie Malignaggi in December fo 2013.

Another locally big fight is looming in the heavyweight division, where WBA #2 Alexander Ustinov and WBA #4 Fres Oquendo are about to collide for the vacant WBA regular title in a battle of aging veterans.

Russian (originally from Belarus) Ustinov, 40, is 34-1, 25 KOs. He was last seen in the ring in May 2017, stopping Brazilian Rafael Zumbano Love in one round in London. Oquendo, meanwhile, is solid 44 and sporting a record of 37-8, 24 KOs.

The Puerto Rican is miraculously ranked by the WBA despite fighting for the last time in July 2014. Oquendo was thought to meet another overaged veteran Shannon Briggs for the same title, but the fight was cancelled after Briggs had been charged with a doping offence and then suspended for six months time.

This sounds like a good HBO card from 2006.
