But what is the point of throwing Floyd into an MMA fight, knowing he cannot grapple? What is being "tested" or "put to competition"? If the goal is to demonstrate the superiority of MMA training in an MMA fight, it's tautological.

How come such imaginary match-ups don't include, say, "Floyd trains for one year at American Top Team" and so on? Or the opposite, throw the MMA fighter in a strictly boxing match: it's also meaningless and only shows that a boxer is a better boxer than an MMA fighter. It's what we would have learned if AS did fight Roy Jones Jr, and if this Conor-Floyd fight ever happens.

The entire discussion appeals to a profound misunderstanding of high performance competitive sports.
