I've followed since the first UFC tournament. No one cuts weight for performance, they cut weight to duck a higher weight class. Plain and simple.

Not sure. I think he would give most problems at heavy. But can he take a punch from Stipe... If it ever happens I would buy the PPV in a heart beat.

Yeah you dont understand combat sports and the methodology of weight cutting

    Like I said- read up!
Wrestling, Tae-kwon do, Karate, Judo, Boxing, Kick Boxing All employ weight cutting especially when the athletes are pros making more money
read up on it, educate and enjoy the research!!

This is why I encourage you to read up on modern MMA

MMA has weight classes unlike the sports you mentioned like baseball and tenning

Its the same as ALL other combat sports.

Right and why are weight classes in MMA?

So that HW's don't fuck everyone's shit up.

If you are cutting weight, it is to avoid a higher weight class in all likelihood.

    No its really very simple
So in combat sports, like wrestling, kickboxing boxing there are established parameters for weight classes

So heres a very simple example

in the UFC the middleweights division is 185 pounds
So for weigh in the athletes weigh, 185 pounds

So ALL the athletes in that division cut weight to make the established weight class. All of then are just around the 200lbs arena (in shape).

in the UFC Light heavy weight division is 205lbs. Subsequently ALL the competitors weight about 220lbs (in shape)

so 220>200lbs even though the weight classes are 205,185

Its a level playing field as ALL the athletes cut weight to compete within the established weight classes.

Its the same in ALL combat sports.

Its a little surprising some people who claim to follow the sport dont understand how weight classes work. But keep watching maybe do some reading and follow other sports

I don't know what you are rambling about. We fully understand weight classes.

What you seem incapable of understanding is why a fighter cuts weight. A fighter cuts weight so they don't have to fight in a heavier weight class. It really is that simple.

Jones weighed like 240 when he fought OSP. Said so himself.

    You still don't understand?
I can't really make it easier for you to understand.

All fighters cut weight in combat sports.

Some fighters will move up or move down depending on whats optimum for them.

So all fighters in their appropriate weight class are the same weight.

Its not magic or some magical advantage any one fighter has.

Jones is never moving up to HW but if he did, he would easily be in the top 5 but he would for sure rack up some losses on his record.

You are either fucking with me or you are a complete moron or both.... Hell I may be the moron for even debating with you.

The weight classes are intended to level the playing field and pit like-sized guys against each other. The "advantage" fighters attempt to gain in CUTTING weight is to try to fit into a smaller weight class in order to fight smaller opponents.

Maybe this helps: let's say you have an ass-kicking competition and you set the divisions up by shoe size. I wear a size 13-14 but if I could, somehow, squeeze my floppy, flat foot into a size 10 shoe for 5 minutes at "weigh-ins", my kicks would have more impact and mass than a guy who really wears a size 10 shoe. I would try and do everything in my power to get my foot into that shoe and avoid opponents in the 13-14 sized shoe range. However, I would make sure to try to act "real cool" so that I, too, could have moronic fans defending me and saying that I am a natural size 10 because I can fit into the shoe for 5 minutes 24 hours before the competition starts.

    Do you understand, now???

I cannot believe nobody else has responded to this moron. Jones has an "inability" to take LHWs of his generation down?!! Is this a joke or what? Umm, it is kind of his main strength. Unreal.

Jones can't take anyone down. Lollll. Kind of like saying Michael Jordan could barely dunk a basketball. My mind is blown.
