Jon Jones Snitched to Get a Lighter Sentence

Somewhere Lyoto Machida and his GNC vitamins he got banned 18-months for are shitting a brick.

Maybe it was a last resort, or maybe he found a fall guy during all this time after lawyers went through every last option. Maybe he really did snitch. Who knows. I only mention that it was suggested at the rookie symposium for the same league his brothers played in.

Well, that's an interesting fact and opens the door to some scenarios.

To put this into perspective, USADA started from a baseline of 48 months and granted a suspension of 30 months of the punishment on the base of Substantial Assistance. Time to be served without suspended sentence was decided by the arbitrator (and as a side note, USADA demanded the full 18 months during the hearing).

Now, 30 months is just shy of 2/3rds of the starting punishment. That's a hefty reduction and according to the policy it must be proportional to the assistance provided. If they agreed to that in exchange of a nobody or an obvious fall guy, then they better keep it under the table somehow. We only have the redacted version of the decision, but at the arbitration the assistance provided by Jones was discussed and WADA provides oversight on USADA and has access to all their information. WADA as well would have to be in on this.

It's going to be very interesting going forward to see if this comes to nothing, if some major player gets hit hard, or if WADA steps in and takes control of the situation (they are allowed to do that). USADA's reputation is on the line, that's a given.

Randy Moss never beat up a racist kid at Marshall. It was Cris Carter.
He also never had any weed. It was Cris Carter's.
Take a lesson from the GOAT of doing blow and being #2, Cris Carter.
His fall guy was so good he actually wound up being a better receiver than him, but is somehow regarded right behind him as the #3/4 best WR of all time mainly due to character issues.

Bit late. but a run down on what the "substantial assistance" clause means, and what it means for Jon going forward.

JON JONES AND HIS “CONTINUING DUTY OF COOPERATION”
Jones handed a huge reduction in punishment by USADA, but it depends on his actions and information going forward.

If Jones is serious about what information he is giving to USADA, not only already, but ongoing as the arbitration decision requires. If he is serious about making a positive contribution towards clean sport, about being part of making a change in the culture of doping within MMA, then Jones will be welcomed with open arms into the anti-doping community.

If it is a self serving, temporary measure, just to get himself a lighter punishment, or an opportunity to settle old vendettas, then perhaps it is just the same old Jon Jones, and it is only a matter of time until the next proverbial train wreck?

Typical scumbag behavior. Do shitty things yourself then rat other people out doing the same

I wouldn’t be surprised if he payed one of his team mates off to take the hit. It’s probably some guy that would never make it into the pros or is maybe some older guy on the verge of retiring.
Rich people pull this type of shit all the time.

lol this isn't a movie

Bullshit. USADA's job is to prevent cheating in sports. Jon is one of the most successful cheaters this sport has ever seen. Taking him out for 4 years is a big deal and sends a strong message. Letting him off the hook sets a terrible precedent and busting some random supplier wont change anything.

How do you know that it's a "random supplier"? Maybe Jon gave USADA information about other top fighters doping. We'll never know for sure though.

Yeh sure of coarse Jon might have turned full snitch, naming all his dealers but I see him as more of the weasel your way out of trouble type by any means necessary

If this is confirmed then USADA has lost all credibility as a governing body.

If this is confirmed then USADA has lost all credibility as a governing body.
why?

whistleblowing is a key part of anti doping.

all the biggest busts came from investigations and whistleblowers, Lance Armstrong, Barry Bonds, Balco, all of it was investigations that started with whistleblowers.

We'll never know for sure though.

well we will, because in every single prior case involving whisteblowers who cooperated with usada weve seen countless sanctions or arrests in the months and years that followed.

it wont be hard to work out which sanctions in the future are related to jones information.

I don't really care about whether he's snitched on anyone, the guy was already so far gone that it takes a low life to support him these days.
Most of Sherdog posters are low lifes. If we dig through your shit, you probably are too.

Great fighter but a god awful human being.
