Jon Jones says he owes Alexander Gustafsson 'a severe beating'

In the wake of Alexander Gustafsson's knee injury, questions have arisen as to whether the Swedish light heavyweight should remain next in line for a shot at the UFC light heavyweight title, currently held by Jon Jones.

For one thing, the fact Jones' bout with Daniel Cormier isn't for nearly two months could make for an exceptionally long wait for Gustafsson, who has not fought since March. For another, Anthony Johnson is rumbling his way up the rankings.

But as far as the champion is concerned, Gustafsson is the only fight which makes sense next, should Jones defeat Cormier on Sept. 27.

And he doesn't just want to meet him, mind you. Jones feels like he has to make a point the second time around.

"I feel that I have something to prove to the MMA community when it comes to Gustafsson," Jones said. on Monday's edition of The MMA Hour. "I wasn't able to perform to my greatest ability [in their first fight], so I do owe Gustafsson a severe beating."

Well it's nice that Jones wants to return the favor for the sever beating Gus gave him.

Although this is funny, we all know it was a close fight that Jones eeked out a decision in.

Hopefully Cormier beats Jones down and we don't have to worry about Gus/Jones

It was a close fight to score indeed, but the fact that Jones had to be carried out of the cage, and then had to be transported on a stretcher means he received a beating.

But yeah, I hope DC puts an end to his reign.

This attitude is way better than when he was trying to avoid him. Lovely.

Got to love all the Jones hate, yet DC is just as much of a douche bag as Jones. I don't feel like DC would keep the belt for long if he wins, Gus would beat him and so would the other top5 LHWs, 8 out of 10 times. I have jones inside of 3 rounds.

But that was his best ability. And it was barely enough in the eyes of the judges.

Why would Gust waste his time to beat up Jon in a non title bout? Next for Gust is DC.

Jones is on a roll with his villainy, its good to see.

If jones owed him a severe beating, then he should of finished Gus when he had the chance and gone balls out in the 4th, when Gus was running for his life.

But he will have a rematch to redeem himself or Gus.

If he owes him a severe beating, that means Gus gave him one the first time. Glad to see he finally admitted it.

What 'severe' beating was this? You giving Gustafsson props for cutting Jones? Off of a glancing blow caused by the edge of the glove, or we giving Gustafsson prop for getting kicked in the head so hard that Jones severly sprained and bruised his foot, or you talking about the fatlip he gave him?

We talking damage seen in the fight, that had an actual effect on the outcome then it's hard to not mention the single elbow that it took to have Gustafsson gass out completly and move around the cage like he was drunk seeing three Jon Jones in there.

    ---

Reason Jon Jones wasn't cleared to be back in training until a couple of months after the fight was because of the foot, nothing else.

Ya'll kids are in lala dreamland.
