This is for those who are undermining the seriousness of a repeat violation by a doping criminal, in essence.

Jon Jones could be banned for eight years, UFC's Jeff Novitzky reveals.

"Jones' future in mixed martial arts is currently up in the air following a failed drug test ahead of his UFC 214 grudge match with Daniel Cormier, which he won in devastating fashion.

The test, which was administered shortly after the official UFC 214 weigh-ins, discovered traces of the banned anabolic steroid Turanibol in the New York native's system.

The former UFC light-heavyweight champion's second anti-doping violation has threatened to permanently derail his career.

Should he be found guilty of knowingly ingesting the prohibited agent, he faces the prospect of receiving a four-year ban from the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

However, according to the UFC's Vice President of Athlete Health and Performance Jeff Novitzky, the four-year sentence Jones is currently facing is only a' starting point' and it could be doubled if he has attempted cover up his use of the aforementioned steroid.

“It could,” Novitzky said during an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast when asked if Jones could possibly receive a longer sentence.

“So when there is something called aggravating circumstances, so more than knowingly taking the drug. Taking the drug and lying, trying to cover it up.

"Taking multiple drugs, one trying to hide the other. Yeah, you could get double the sanction amount. A second-time anabolic steroid, four years is kind of the starting point.

"You can go lower for mitigating factors, you can go higher for aggravating factors, up to eight years.

“So yeah, it would have to require something really severe and egregious to get up that high.”

The California State Athletic Commission will hold a hearing into Jones’ failed drug test next month.

Upon the discovery of Jones' failed test, the CSAC overturned Jones’ third-round KO victory over Cormier to a no contest."

Jeff Novitzky thinks Jon Jones is innocent.

Money talks. Cocaine car crashes run.

They wouldn't do that to a innocent man

Back later this year

May as well take his talents to Japan, if it happens.

Japan has a love affair with American black men. It's a no brainer.

Plus, he can roid all he wants.

Everyone wins.

The more the better. It’s time to make an example of a repeat cheater or else usada starts to look like a joke.

Old news, shit said California was holding a meeting next month....CA held a meeting 3 months ago lol

Clickbait article title.

He said four is the starting point, and that he could get more or less depending on aggravating or mitigating circumstances. He also said getting the full eight would require something very extreme.

8 yrs? murderers go to prison, find jesus, get out, reunite with family, and start a new career path in a shorter amount of time

This isn't prison time. This will be a justified ban from MMA to prevent a repeating criminal from cheating and unfairly damaging the integrity of the sport any further. In a truer and just world, PED using cowardice WOULD get prison time for doping in combat sports where competitors' physical livelihood is also on the line.

Good to see this liar, fraud and cheat career ruined. Maybe he can cone back in 8 years and his retina detached in both eyes by younger juicers. Hopefully they vacate all his wins too.

Jones is a sketchy fellow but I still think referring to him as "it" is rude and uncalled for.

That's what cheating cowards will amount to for generations to come. When the dust settles.

Cheaters NEVER prosper.
