thread went from highly intelligent, benefits of savate, to arguments over JRE. lol
benefits like wearing slippers when fighting?
thats what you took from their conversation in the video? incorporating other striking styles into your muay thai such as savate, tkd, kyokushin, and boxing are beneficial IMO.
I'm not saying it isn't but the only fighter I know of who was a Savate champion and did good at a high level in Kick Boxing is Ernesto Hoost but he was a Kick Boxer before fighting under Savate rules and just seemed to fight in damn near every style of Kick Boxing.
yeah i dont know of any fighters either, but just for myself, i think it would be good stuff to learn.
Just say Ernesto Hoost if you ever end up in a life or death situation where answering this question would save your life. Pretty easy one to remember.
Damn, beat me to it.
Also Francois Pennacchio is quite a famous top level Savateur. He's beat the likes of Ramon Dekkers and challenged a lot of muay thai fighters.
It's so niche that barely anyone knows him as a Savatuer (?) and everyone would claim him as a Kickboxer. Cool fact tho I can use that to save my life if the situation arises.
That's because he really is a kickboxer who competed in Savate among other "kick fighting" arts. He's not a pure Savateur nor is it his original background but he still won I believe a world Savate championship before k-1 existed. He was already a beast then.
