It sounds like Volkman is mostly butthurt that he's not worth more to an employer than $42K. He's the only one who can change that, and complaining wont do it alone.

Cut the lady some slack, if she has 3 kids with Volkman she probably has eyesight problems, and she MUST have hearing difficulty.
 
While I would like for fighters to be compensated better, that poverty comment he made was outright shit.
 
how is that exactly exposing the ufc?

we see the fighter's disclosed pay after each event.

$1500 deductible for health insurance? fine, pay for better health insurance yourself.

no signing bonus? no retirement fund? you knew that going in.

they dont compensate the boring fighters, try being entertaining and winning a couple bonuses.

i bet Lucas Martins has no complaints about how the UFC is paying
 
complaining about 6 and 6 for starting contracts annoys me.

6 and 6 is pretty fucking good for a no name fighter on the undercard.

Strikeforce was offering fighters 1000 for fights. UFC was doing 2 and 2 for a long time, then 4 and 4.

The pay is going up as the sport grows.

Also complaining about the insurance... wow.

What other MMA or Boxing organization offers fighter insurance? none.

Also I bet the money he said he made is purely contractual money.

He would have more more money on top of that from sponsors.

Then you have other ways you earn as a UFC fighter

Examples...

Fighter appearances (EXPOs, Local Events, Gyms etc)

Coaching and Seminars

Merchandise (Selling Walk out shirts and other branded gear to promote yourself)

The exposure from fighting in the UFC opens up all these revenue paths.
 
I used to think Volkmann's idiocy was just shtick, but now I'm convinced the guy is really a few fries short of a Happy Meal.
