Probably the biggest striking cross over signing in recent years in terms of a fighter still coming into his prime that is making the switch to MMA. Recently fought and lost a close a somewhat controversial decision for GLORY MW title, still ranked top ten in Kickboxing and only 29. Dont be fooled, hes not just a striker hes been training mma for a loong time and has a record of 11-0 (11KO)

So pumped for this, dont miss it people! Prelims UFC 221

I'm so hyped up for his debut too. After yoel vs luke and hunto vs blaydes this is the most interesting fight on this card.

Checked his MMA record and comptition.

Besides absolute cans, he fought brawler Andrew Flores Smith and Guillard.

After Muslim Salikhov's debut in the octagon, the expectations should be low.

All depends on what his grappling looks like. I'd hate to see him get grapplefucked like Salikhov, Van Soust, and Souwer.

Or he can be like Stephen Thompson....But until we see it, it's better not develop some hopes.

To be fair these "cans" from kickboxing are better strikers than most fighters in the UFC.

Sorry I meant MMA record...his kickboxing record is more impressive (a win over Stoika, at least)

By absolute cans you mean people youve never heard of? I.e most fighters newly signed to the UFC. How often do you see an unkown guy get signed by beating name fighters.

He is new, thats a given, but the raw potential is huge. Highest pedigree striker who is coming into his athletic prime now and has been on and off mma since 2010/11.

His grappling is good he trains with some beasty wrestlers in NZ. Kiwis have good TDD and he is no exception. Give him a good few fights to warm up and maybe some overseas training to deal with top level wrestlers and he is pushing top ten.

For sure but the difference between those guys is that Izzy has been training mma since his early 20s. He doesnt have to start from scratch he has a great base and is improving constantly

Duhhhh, you just took off half the sentence explaining why hes a bigger cross over than Saki. Hes a kickboxer trying mma, Izzy is a world class striker that has actually been training mma for years and has the ability to actually become a well rounded fighter

No different then the world class BJJ guys who come over and can KO people like Jacare. I watched some of Izzy mma fights and was not impressed but I do hope he can go far.

Definitely excited about his debut here too, have seen him in Glory so it’s def cool to see a guy crossover who is during his “prime” years so to speak.

If the UFC is smart, they’ll use him wisely. Even if he can’t compete with the best grapplers in the world, it doesn’t mean he can’t put on good and exciting fights.

But, with Shelby at the helm, I suspect the match-making will be shit as usual. That guy is a complete fuckin bafoon.

Salikhov was 33 years old and spent most of his life in Sanda/kickboxing, really don't know why they keep signing Russians in their 30s over ones in their mid-20s. Khabib and Zabit being the young ones (24 and 26) and they're already killin it.

At least Adensya is 5 years younger than Salikhov so he has room to improve.

If 28 years old 57-5 kickboxer, 6-1 boxer, 11-0 MMA fighter doesn't sound exiting to you, i don't know what do you expect from newcomer...
