Is Werdum the best BJJ player turned striker we've ever seen?

I think Werdum is not as good as people are making him out to be. The Nog brothers, for instance, had much better boxing overall than Werdum's Muay Thai. Werdum is long, lanky, flexible, has great reach, and is sneaky. He can kick high and far with his long legs, throw knees, and he has adapted his clinch BJJ game into the Muay Thai offensive well. But he has pretty wonky head and foot movement, and his timing is a bit awkward. He is not the most coordinated guy in the world, and his reaction time is not great, as is normal for a man his age. Against someone like Tybura, sure.

But still, his striking is oddly efficient in its awkwardness, even if it is also vulnerable.

Being in the slowest, technical wordt division help to shine though

Even at old beat up Nog was winning the striking vs Werdum, the younger version boxed his ears off and that wasn't a green Werdum either as many claimed, he been training with Crocops team for a couple of years and was 5 years into his MMA career.

Whats happened really is the standards at HW have clearly diminished, big names declining, very few new names offering much.

Nog lost in his prime to a novice Werdum and was then KO'd by Mir, Schaub and Nelson.

2005 Nog would have been cut from the current UFC and would be losing to sonnen in bellator, deal with if.

No he's not. He was wildly swinging at air against Whittaker, when Whittaker was several feet away from the end of Jacare's punches. It was utterly embarassing.

Considering BJJ specialists who learned striking after already becoming known in MMA, Werdum is obviously up there along with the likes of BJ Penn.
And Werdum was chasing Stipe completely overextended chin up and got Slept. I was saying the best strikers but good enough to go 3 rounds against a scary Yoel and finish an old Vitor.

I think Penn has more Ko finishes

ya but he turned into tippy toes penn... definitely loses some points for that

And you're considering Aldo as "one of the best BJJ players"?

<{nope}>
The guy who beat Cobrinha twice in a BJJ match? Yeah I am! Do you know anything about Aldos grappling background?

he´s for sure the best at theowing boomerangs LOL
Werdum is great in nearly all aspects of MMA, but he was overconfident and reckless against Stipe, I dont see Fabricio beating Stipe unless he can take the fight to the ground and get a submission

I consider Werdum better than the Nog bros and the Diaz bros are both just boxers, as was BJ Penn.

Werdum is an actual striker, utilizing his entire body
Yeah but his striking is slow and sloppy, he only beats out people who can't strike well at all

There's no comparison with Werdum, Souza, Maia, Roger, Palhares, Monson, Aoki, Big Nog, Nelson, Hall, Shields - I mean the list continues on and on.. Aldo is no where near amongst the most prestigious grapplers to be in mainstream MMA.

Of all of those I mentioned, Werdum is a better striker than all of them, in my opinion. But I could see mentions of Nog and RDA.

Edit: I'm not saying Aldo doesn't have a strong record in BJJ but he left the sport to fight MMA before he established the highlights of some of these other guys.

Isn't Aldo from Muay Thai?
Not sure actually. I thought he started BJJ early like at 16 and was a world champion at blue belt.

Reading wiki I think he started doing capoeira first, so its probable he did have some kind of striking before grappling.

Wat?

Deal with...(if?)

Wat?

You might need to get your head checked, either false memories or potential brain injury

Aldo used to play soccer with Pele or something.
