Is Syrian war over?

Do Shiites have a history of violence against Sunnis, the way Sunnis have a history of violence against Shias?
Well when talking about post-Saddam Iraq you can't forget the hundreds of terrorist attacks carried out in Shia areas by Sunni islamists. It was Zarqawi and his group repeated attacks on civilian targets that really sparked the sunni-shia conflict in Iraq.

Yup, and from what I've read its been pretty much one sided (Sunni attacking Shiite).

Very.
That said there is no point downplaying shia "death squads" because they were very brutal and torture, kidnappings etc. with US support became widespread. But to say that whole situation stemmed from some Baathist witchhunt and not mosques and markets blowing up all over Iraq seems a bit disingenious. In fact the Baathist who tried allying themselves with ISIS, a Sunni liberation force at the time, quickly got chased out.

Let's not forget the bombing of the Golden dome (one of the holiest shia sites) in Samara by sunni jihadists that really set the fire ablaze and triggered much of the violence.
