There i said it. Amazing wrestler, A level athlete, KO power in his hands, top fight IQ, and one of the best resumes, if not the best, in the history of the MW division : Machida, Kennedy, Jacare, Weidman, Rockhold

He gave us a potential FOTY in the controversial but memorable fight against the actual best MW Whittaker. I think he should fight Gastelum next to clean the whole division, and maybe eventually get a rematch with Jacare.

Too bad he could not fight Mousasi, cause i think it would have been a hell of a fight as well !

Anyway, i think we have right there one of the best fighters ever not getting the belt around his waist. What do you guys think ?

    I would say yes

You can make cases for Hendo and Chad Mendes as well

Yes his resume is elite. and his only 2 (UFC ) losses are close decisions 1 of them being highly controversial.

Certainly one of the most prolific cheaters.

Would love to see what stack he's geared on.

Also, ducking 205 where he would get murdered.

    Easily,

He's an amazing fighter and human.

Hendo would be above him but at least Hendo won Strikeforce and PRIDE titles.

Hendo, Faber, Kenflo IMO. Romero can't make weight and there's always something odd that occurs in his fights.

Dan Henderson technically never held a UFC title, though he obviously won other championships. He’s way ahead of Romero.

I’d also include Big Nog and Faber for sure.

Missed weight when he beat Cockhold (null and void).

Missed weight when he just fought Whittaker (close fight is null and void).

“Contaminated” supplement when he beat Jacare in a close fight, and if that were 5 rounds, Jacare would have won.

Romero is elite, but he’s no uncrowned champ.

Probably. He's arguably beat Whittaker twice, especially in the 2nd fight. He finished Rockhold and Weidman, the two previous champions. It's unfortunate that he's missed weight twice in title fights. If he moves up to 205 and beats the best guys in that division and wins the title there, you can make a case for GOAT status.

Shields beat so many top guys and even the current champion. Crazy to think he never won the belt and previous title challenger.

Of course. The fact somebody like Bisping can become champ and remain champ by cherrypicking opponents while continuing to duck Romero like the plague for years, is proof the MW belt is a sham.
