Diego was undefeated 17-0. He just had a impressive first round running knee KO on Joe Riggs. Had a win over Nick Diaz when Nick Diaz sucked.

People were calling him the uncrowned champion. Then as soon as faced stiff competition he got exposed and looked like trash since.

Khabib has 1 win over RDA when RDA was not the RDA that we know today. He's has an undefeated streak with wins over nobody. Is he the uncrowned champ?

Diego though? Outside of (very rudimentary) stats, is there any other sane point of comparison between these two??

Maybe modern day one of the Shamrock brothers? Wild guess.

EDIT: when they were good of course.

Khabib is obviously really good, but how good? His next fight or two will go a long way toward answering that.

spoken like a true fight finder fan.

wikipedia aint going paint the right picture, dude.

think in front of the mirror twice before calling a pro-fighter "trash".

You forget Michael Johnson .. and everyone refusing to fight Khabib.

Khabib is literally 15x the grappler Diego ever was.

RDA was on a 5 fight win streak before losing to Khabib and was coming off of a win over Cowboy.

RDA then went on another 5 fight win streak after the Khabib loss and KOed Bendo just 4 months after that fight.

This narrative that Khabib beat some lesser version of RDA is #1 bullshit.

As someone that thinks Tony's gonna beat Khabib, are you kidding me? The level of grappling dominance, and god like ability to transition to dominant position after dominant position is like what Maia is now, except he's always been this now, and already evolved to almost he highest level of grappling.

It's his striking, and striking defense that's gonna get him messed up by Tony. But still, he beats everyone int he division besides Tony. I jut hope after Tony beats him, fans don't start saying how he was an overrated fighter, and didn't deserve the praise and hype. Because he's a certified killer.

It's obvious to see the guy would probably beat everyone in the division besides Tony. He's clearly the biggest problem in the division as soon as he gets his hands on you. Tony's got the physical tools, and that extra spice to his game that will beat him, but that doesn't mean he's not elite.

You are probably right, but Khabib remains relatively untested compared to other contenders. A win over Ferguson would be very impressive.

I don't know about that. His win over RDA was so utterly dominant, you just scratch your head that another human being his size could do that to him after seeing RDA being so dominant against other elite fighters. But I agree, if he beats Tony, he's basically the true champ of the division. Conor doesn't have the gas tank to overcome the grappling onslaught Khabib's gonna bring to him, if he doesn't knock him out before.

michael johnson, tibau, RDA (who was top 5), Pat healy at the time and shalorus are better wins than BRIAN GASSAWAY, JOHN ALESSIO and Karo Parisyan. I get that people feel like they are onto something, but Khabib is clearly special, and despite the detractions, has beaten solid competition. People like to remember RDA as a scrub for no reason, but RDA had just beat up Cerrone, and hadn't lost clean since a decision to Tyson Griffin that he could have picked up (his losses between that and khabib were an injury and a narrow decision). RDA was higher ranked than Khabib and Khabib beat him.

Don't confuse the situation with facts.

And bonus points to you for being a Hagler fan.
