Betting against yourself sounds like it could be illegal but what about betting on yourself to win in a certain round or by submission/knockout/decision?

Edmund has bet on Ronda several times. He bet on her winning in the third round in the Miesha rematch.

Most fighters just have their camps bet on them.

floyd tried to bet on himself to win by a specific round and method, but was denied. not sure if it's the athletic commission that determines the legality, and/or if it applies to mma, but i suspect it would.

however, it's legal to bet on yourself to win.

"Mayweather attempted to place a $400,000 bet on the fight ending under 9.5 rounds at -200 odds, but according to a source, there were concerns over the legality of a fighter betting on anything other than a straight win, which caused a delay.

Mayweather then tried to bet on himself to win by knockout, but was unhappy about having to wait to place the wager and left without getting the bet down, the sources said."

I dont think your allowed to pick a method or round. I dont think you can bet on your opponent to win either.

You can bet on yourself to win but not by any method or round. Cannot bet on the other fighter to win.

Fuck off, it should be just illegal

It's up to the sports book's discretion. That's probably why he was delayed. Besides it was Floyd, and he was boxing Conor.
I think dropping that much makes the casino scared a little. And the odds increased over a straight win.
I don't know any fighter betting on themselves by specific method or round. But last time Iv'e heard of anyone betting a substantial amount of money, was Trump. he bet a million on Douglas against Tyson.

Trump bet a million on Douglas to win? Seriously?

Supposedly a bunch of fighters bet against Leben in the Risholt fight because they knew he really didn't train beforehand.

What happens if you win a bet and the result is later overturned?

If you already got paid, nothing that can be done.

This happens pretty frequently - Norman Parke even admitted it in the cage after he won against Kotani in the second round, and claimed to have won several thousand at a specific site (Paddy Power). There are tons of other examples I know of, although I probably shouldn't disclose them here lol. Except for Sicillia vs. Meza, that was an obvious one. You tried, Sam! 15/1, so close!

I don't see a problem if they play money line.. No props or unders anything like that.

You should be able to bet on yourself to win ITD, but it's a conflict if you bet on yourself to win by decision, or any type of "over" bet.

I also have a problem with betting a specific round. Under a specific round? That's a close one.

That’s like having too much faith on yourself

Of course, it is illegal to bet on you because the match will be influenced by you. For this, you can get some years in prison. But I think there are athletes who do this, not directly. Through acquaintances or friends who bet on them. Nowadays, we all think about money, which is why I don't place sports bets, I better play poker. At least I know that poker cannot be influenced by anyone. I love playing poker for money. I most often play on score88poker.bid. Last week I did well, but I played 9 hours somewhere.
