Is Conor GOAT material? After this fight we know

Fuck me these conor threads are just getting ridiculous

After this fight Khabib will be LW goat

Naaaah...

If he didnt have a 2 year layoff in the prime of his career, and instead beat couple of tough guys, we could have this discussion, but not like this.

So nobody is qualified to be the goat unless they beat Khabib................................Just Bleed one more time gawd damn it

Dude has 4 losses already and he just reached 30 years of age.

He's not in the Top 100 of GOAT discussion and never will be.

in case Khabib finishes Conor in round 3.
and Conor has won lets say the first round on points, all his nuthuggers will be happy to be the first one that won a round against Khabib.
same like it was agaist Floyd.
they will never change

Conor is already a "GOAT" in his own right. He changed the business aspect of the game forever and very few come even close. However, realistically, since one is considered to be in GOAT discussions based on title defenses, the quality of the competition etc, it's very unlikely that Conor gets anywhere near that as noone in their rightful mind expects him to fight for much longer.

No but it would elevate him.

I never saw a Conor fight in the UFC where he got dominated from the beginning. Nate got lucky because of his willingnesses to take brain damage to win. Both fights Conor outclassed him standing up.

Mendes probably had the most success from the beginning, but Conor did not look too healthy in that fight and he had a messed up leg up to two weeks before that fight. There were reports he may had to pull out.

Conor is definitely one of best fighters UFC ever had, either way.

Other potential UFC goats in title defenses.
DJ 11
Silva 10
GSP 9
Jones 8
Conor 0

No way, he has done very little. never ever defended a belt. if he can have 10+ title defences against all the top guys then we can talk. He will have to reign for years without defeat.

Conor vs Diaz 2 was a close decision. It's not like Conor showed he was vastly superior.

Conor/Diaz 1 = Nate chokes out Conor

Conor/Diaz 2 = Conor gets majority decision.

Diaz > Conor

Everyone can have an off day.

Why are you comparing GSP/Serra to Conor/Diaz? The Serra fight was obviously a fluke and GSP showed that by finishing Serra easily in their second fight.

If anything it just proved there should be a third fight, even though i dont want to see it. GSP erased all doubt when he finished Serra, Conor hasnt done that with Nate.

If Conor didnt leave MMA and defended a belt a few times he'd enter the conversation. Most champions say winning the belt is easier than defending it over and over again.

Indeed.

As they say, staying at the top is much harder than getting there.

There is much more pressure when you are the main target and everybody in the division is scrutinizing you than when you are hungry and making your way up.

No fighter should ever be put in the GOAT conversation without at least a couple of defenses.

The answer is still no.

He needs to not only be the best in a division at one moment, but he needs to stay on top for years. Fedor had 10 years at the top. GSP was on top for 6+ years. Anderson had 7 I think.

Then we need to see some top 5 wins, some title defenses, and some evolution of his game.

Then we can talk

But Conor doesn't want that, and I don't blame him. CTE probably isn't worth it.

lol GOAT? Come on... It'd be a huge feather in his cap, but seriously who has Khabib beat? His best win is Barboza, and while that's a very good win to have, it's not anything that makes you one of the best ever.

Both underestimated their opponents and got finished.

Learned from their losses, improved their games and came back better than ever, avenged their losses and went on to more victories.

Right so GSP isn't on the shortlist either then? What kind of goat gets finished by Mat fucking Serra in the 1st minute?

Losing one isolated fight means little, how you respond to a loss says a lot about your character and whether you have a goat mentality.
Conor passed that test with a distinction, he even proved he could win a 5 round war (which many people doubted) whilst avenging that loss.
gsp came back and destroyed serra, conor barley won a decision some argue he lost and spent half the fight running away.
Not the best comparison man.
