Opinion Is "American" an ethnicity? If so, what are its defining characteristics?

Norwegian-Americans. A small group, predominantly concentrated in a specific region. If you are, there's a tremendous probability you're from or live in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota. NoDak even does that whole freeze your balls off but best quality of life (within the country), state owned bank, sovereign wealth fund, extremely low crime thing.

That would explain Minnesota's left leaning. Scandinavian people are very hard working and a little too nice.

It's also tough because it was founded by people who were willing to take a big risk of dropping whatever they had and making an uncertain journey to a new land. That trait was passed on from generation to generation.
The people that came here were hardened by the land and by conflict with the Indians. That's what set the pace.

A far cry from what you see today.

They came here, fought with the Indians, then fought with the British, the French, the Spanish, among themselves(deadliest fight of all), against the Axis.

And today people get offended over personal pronouns. We might either be entering last days of Rome or some point of national reckoning.

Nah, just the next generation of global preeminence.

It's probably all downhill for everyone else though.

American is not an ethnicity but hillbillies tend to think it is.

you can create a whole new set of ethnicity if you continually fuck your siblings/cousins/etc... or at least that's what those inbreds would want to believe anyway.

It was also founded by criminals that the European nations didn't want to manage anymore so they shipped them the New World as labor, particularly in the South. That trait was probably passed on too.

All in all, America was founded by groups of people who didn't do well with what was the civilization of their times.

Hahaha. Gold.

I love these conversations, and how they serve to unite us :/

"Ethnic Americans"

Hmm, doesn't sound like something we would call the majority.

Yeah, the ethnic Americans are dead and gone.
Are you talking about the indigenous people of the Americas? They still exist.

Their numbers are small and their territory is gone. We both know what I mean lets not nitpick over this. It's silly

Then just say what you mean instead of saying they do not exist. Natives exist and many still practice their culture. White people have been saying things like that for a long time, and it is just another way for them to ignore natives and their issues. When white people say native peoples don't exist it really means they dont consider natives or thir issues important and they want them not to exist.
