Is 25 Mbps enough?

As long as you don't try to download any pictures of @Clippy's wife

It is enough but holy cow, I don't think I've been at 25 since 2006? 2007? Currently I'm at 300.

I have 25. Those big numbers are great but if I don't use it I don't see the point. Which is why I've never upgraded above that.

I have 5 people in my household all gaming and streaming simultaneously. I use a wired connection but I also have 2 WiFi networks, one of them being 5G.

Check this out.

Yea even with all that 300 is overkill. I have three in my house all streaming (we don't have cable TV) and playing games online (which takes very little actual bandwidth). With 25 we've never even had a hiccup. Download torrents is what does the most damage honestly and I just regulate that to only use 1mb max and everyone else is fine. A guy actually did a test on how much online gaming uses and I was shocked at the numbers he posted (https://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/comments/1spnoj/aggregate_data_on_ps4_internet_usage/).

lol faster than 96% of the US. Your almost part of the 1%.

The country is catching up, it used to say 98%. I didn't upgrade to 300, which is actually about 340-360 most of the time. I had a package that was 100 but my ISP automatically upgraded me to 300 when there services changed. In other words, their max package at the time was 100 but they raised that to 300 and since I already had the 100 I automatically got a new modem and upgraded to 300.

As far as you getting by with 25, I'm sure you do but I'll tell you this. Before we had 100 we had 50 and at 50 we had all sorts of slow down problems, lag, and other issues. The upgrade to 100 cleared all that up and now with 300 shit is just blazing all the time. 300 isn't even that much, soon most of the country will be rated around 1gbs speed. That stuff is rolling out more and more which is the 4% of people that currently have a faster connection than I do. They aren't just a little bit faster, those 4% are like 3 times my speed of 300.

300 mb/s packages are usually overkill even for large families. There is a reason the cable companies try and sell you on the fastest packages. I would say 50 mb/s is the max needed for most people including 4k usage unless you happen to have a multiple people doing really usage at the same time.

Wow that's crazy. Before 25 I had 18 and I was fine. When it was just me in my 1 bedroom apartment it was 6. I tried 3 but that's when I finally noticed it was to slow.

Our data usage per month is so much I'm not even going to tell you the number. My family used to have 50 but we encountered problems, 100 seemed to clear all that up. They didn't sell me a 300 package, I sorta just got grandfathered in and automatically upgraded. They modem they brought me is baller status, it also included 2 WiFi networks, one of which is 5g.

Thing is, we may not use computers the way most "normal families" do lol. If you can picture a normal event in my household would be my oldest son playing competitive multiplayer CS-GO where winning and losing is measured in milliseconds, while streaming his games to Twitch and watching videos on a 2nd monitor, my other son raiding in world of warcraft while watching movies on his 2nd 4k monitor, my daughter streaming Youtube or Netflix, my wife doing whatever the fuck it is on her laptop, and me like this at my comp...

Just me and my 2 sons alone have 6 monitors going streaming huge amounts of data at all times.

Should be fine, use an Ethernet on the Xbox if you can and you'll be golden.

dont remember what cox charges me for, but i actually download 12.5 mbps on speed tests

i can run like 30 shemale porn tabs all downloading at once

Should be more than enough if not you can always upgrade . I'd probably even downgrade a bit and see how that does for you

Yeah it depends on a lot of factors. Wi-fi is usually the biggest bottleneck in a lot of homes and upgrading that can be night and day. If they're grandfathering it in thats perfect but I do know some people will go out and drop a bit of coin on 300 up /300 down package when they could have easily have the same results with a 100 up/100 down. Shit I have a 240 mbps connection just for myself and I couldn't see any difference from 50 mbps.

What are you getting for 300 a month?!?! Thats crazy expensive.

1Gbps fibre optic connection for (equivalent of) $35 USD here

It's enough ;)
