They converted them all to webware so that you can play them directly from your browser:

Late last year the Internet Archive branched out into video games, adding a section of the site called the Console Living Room that backed up early console games. What started with five systems—the Atari 2600 and 7800, the Magnavox Odyssey, the ColecoVision, and the Astrocade—has since expanded to include everything from classics like the Sega Genesis to weird also-rans like the Watara SuperVision.
And as of this week, it now also includes arcade games. Yet another branch of the ever-expanding Internet Archive, the new Internet Arcade brings over 900 classic arcade cabinets to your browser.
Like the Console Living Room, the Internet Arcade is an effort to archive and present these games through JSMESS, a project to emulate various computer systems through JavaScript. The benefit? The games can run right in your browser and thus don't require any third-party software (like a standalone MAME emulator).
Webware is getting pretty ridiculously sophisticated.

Here's the direct link to the host classic 70's and 80's Arcade games:

Pretty sweet.

Next level question, is there a Sega CD emulator?

haha sweet it bypasses my works filter as well =D

You've just saved my extremely boring day at work! Now the question is what game do I play.

*Holy shit it has Galaga!

I've always wondered how I would get fired from my job, and now I know it will be whilst playing track and field at work!

Blacktiger! Man, I dumped so many damn quarters in that machine. Pretty awesome site.

Aladdin for the sega genesis is how a side scroller should be made.

Man, it was just 900 arcade games when I made this thread two months ago. Crazy.

Is this for real? Is this legal or is this going to get shut down by the fun police?

No, this is the internet archive. It's for real. This isn't a piracy website. I think the IP has simply lapsed on all of these games, or those who own the IP aren't making any considerable money off this stuff anymore, and don't care.

I thought copyright in the US (and most of the rest of the world) was "life" plus 70 years.

You can look into this more, but the IA doesn't dabble in illegality. Probably these were released as freeware or shareware, or the copyright holders have made it publicly available (not sure if this lapses copyright).

I really don't care about the intricacies of IP law here. It's legal, and that's all that matters to posting it here. The IA is essentially a digital library serving the public good:

I tried to play some of the games but I could not get my controller to work with the browser. I am using a Logitech controller, is there anything I may be able to do to fix the problem?

Pretty cool option I guess, but I won't find myself ever using it with all the games I still have in backlog and the 400 games I have on my various emulators.

Still good to see.

Anyone got any solution to use dosbox, my computer is too powerful I limited it 1% of cpu usage and theme park was still playing like it was on speed
