Integrated Sports Media reached a deal with DAZN to distribute its programming in establishments (mostly restaurant and sports bars) around the U.S. The big key they are pushing are Canelo Alvarez fights, but other boxing and Bellator shows are also in the distribution plans.

Smart to make a direct deal with sports bars/etc.
Not a game-changer, but it shows smart thinking

Good to see and probably will help Dazn with another stream of revenue.

Be interesting to see how much they will charge Sports bars for the content.

I've only ever gone to bars to watch UFC PPVs, and that's because I've always found the concept of paying $30-$100 for a three-hour content unlock ridiculous.

With DAZN already being relatively inexpensive for an entire month's worth of content, I'm not sure how much this will lure people into bars.

Great point
It won't.
but sportsbars that have multiple TV's need content
Plus the bigger fights (like boxing) will help because a lot of casuals want to be out & watch

I have seen this being one of the biggest problems with the UFC going to ESPN+, no bar exposure. At least in vegas they would show every UFC fight around every casino, even the fight nights. Good exposure. With that no longer on the table other than when they are on big ESPN, I think it hurts. Vegas is probably already figuring this out with vegas Knights games being on espn+, but It wont help most bars.

Eventually it will be worked out I'm sure
Too many fights going to streaming

Do you know the legality behind that? Can the bar just buy a few rokus and 1 or 2 subscriptions? If thats the case, It would be pretty cheap alternative/option for them.

I think they have to go through ESPN+commercial representative (like they are doing with DAZN content)

This is great news. DAZN seems to be on top of a lot things. A lot of bars just put the typical channels on on Friday or Saturday nights even if they don’t have anything on. I’ll see frickin NFL network, NHL network, etc when it’s not even the right season for those sports. If DAZN can get these bars to put on their content, it’ll be a big win. Drunk ppl love fights. You put on some fights and a crazy knockout happens ppl will love it. The only problem is that most bars/sports bars whatever you wanna call them, just don’t really keep up with the ever changing fight landscape. Good on DAZN for taking the initiative.

I run a bar and these deals suck for us mom and pop type businesses. the Canelo versus Fielding fight in December will cost us $1,000 with this new deal with integrated Sport, which is better than the Canelo versus Triple G fight cost over $3,000 to host. yeah you charge at the door and try to recoup the money but sometimes you can't. So these deals with DAZN for $10 a month does not apply to small businesses the same goes for ESPN Plus. needless to say DAZN is better deal even with Integrated Sports than previous sellers like Joe hand promotions and G&G promotion, for small bars as they will charge by package of fights quarterly. I believe that small businesses should pay the same prices for events as residential purchases.

Great addition/info

JoeHand is insane with their pricing I agree

DAZN has also agreed to with MLB. Have cut ins and a weekly show. Down the road I believe they will get the US streaming rights to the NFL

Dazn making big moves. They should charge accordingly though, small establishments shouldn't have to pay exorbitant amounts like the big ones do. I feel this over pricing is what lead to the majority of Buffalo wild wings and other places like that canceling ufc ppv showings.

A fair deal would be to charge per capacity of establishment; if your little dive bar holds no more than 50-100 people then charge them a third or half price at most. That would be smart business, and would allow dazn and it's content to be shown in more places.

This is a good thing though, especially for Bellator who could use exposure. I can imagine them converting many casual bar hoppers into dazn subscribers and Bellator fan loyalists like this.

No way will they get NFL rights on the US ....

Bellator just extended their contract with Monster Energy for 3 years as well.....nice.

I read a good article I wish I had saved, on how this is more a vestigial issue of Vegas having never previously hosted its own local sports content to provide for casuals and hometown bars. Thus their structure was always designed to provide max profit for the masses on the big PPV/Cable events. Streaming is still very much a new endeavor for a lot of these old money guys.

I think the NFL will opt out of the Direct deal after 2019. The cable package IDK who will win the bid but I really think DAZN will make a big offer for the streaming rights

How cute lol.

Also the MLB deal is for nothing more than a glorified highlights show. It doesn't include any live-broadcasted game.

Lol laugh all you want we will see what happens. We may have different preferences but if you call sit through a full baseball game then ok. The DAZN show is basically an NFL Redzone so thats fine with me

I honestly question your knowledge of mainstream sports and their costs for exclusivity. And your naivety of DAZN’s potential is almost insulting to the average intelligence of a casual sports fan.

I’m not knocking DAZN, but they’re a literal fucking nobody comparatively speaking in the US and will never have any exclusive streaming rights to any of the big 4 sports here. Maybe a few hockey games five years from now lol. That’s the nonsense you were trying to insinuate.
