In your opinion, who is the most underrated fighter of all time?

Frank Shamrock. Before the Diaz fight, he got his due as one of MMA's fore father's, but afterwards people act like he's some bum that Diaz beat up.

This too

Jake Shields - Possibly the second best WW ever. Dude outgrappled Demina Maia. Well, sorta.
Jon Fitch - Another great WW overshadowed by a dominant champ.
Daniel Cormier - A great HW and a great LHW. Beaten only by Jon Jones.

Going into his 2nd fight with GSP he was 41-4. He finished his career with 45 wins and 35 finishes and he gets shit on pretty hard from time to time. He had two title reigns once where he had 2 title defenses and another with 5 title defenses.

Cerrone, until he wins a fight in which he will become overrated again.
Donald Cerrone was a top 3 fighter of both 2014 and 2016. Amazing, amazing years right there. And each is inside a different division.

Erick Silva. This kid is coming for the belt as soon as he gets a little more experience. Mark my words.

This fighter finished his career 36-4, finishing 21 times. In his career he only lost to the best fighters, Frankie Edgar, BJ Penn, GSP, and Matt Hughes, yet he is little more than a footnote to most fans, that is if they even remember him.

Werdum, if he didn't run face first into Stipe he'd have a near undisputed claim as HW goat.

He's one of the few fighters who has truly evolved his game through his career.

MAX HOLLOWAY, TONY FERGUSON, and YOEL ROMERO because they are all on GOAT like runs, though because they could not or cannot get title shots, are not treated like it.

For example... there are only six fighters in UFC history to have a winning streak of 11 or more. Anderson Silva, GSP, Jon Jones, Demetrious Johnson, Royce Gracie, and then there's Max Holloway. Not only are those the only six to get 11 straight, but no one else has even got 10.

So Max Holloway's name is right there in history beside legends, with wins over Jose Aldo, Ricardo Lamas, Anthony Pettis, Cub Swanson etc... and yet most just see him as a new champion who needs a few defences to prove himself. In my mind he's already one of the greatest and most exciting fighters we've ever seen, and the same applies to Ferguson and Romero, title wins or not.

To be fair, he went from absolutely atrocious in stand up to very good. He had A LOT of room to improve.

Rickson Gracie? He never got to see what he was really made of.
Still would have liked to have seen Rickson vs Sakuraba.

People that dislike him don't usually underrate him? I think his is GOAT but I also find him super boring and didn't watch his last few fights.

GSP

While he has many fans, he is underrated and criticized by many, considering what he's accomplished with the limited tools he had at his disposal.

*no colligate (or even high school) wrestling pedigree
*no amateur boxing experience
*fought during a golden era of mma killers like Hughes, BJ, Trigg, etc.
*either beat or avenged every loss to every opponent he's faced.
*dominated and cleaned out a division for years

I get it if you think he wasn't exciting...but denying or diminishing his accomplishments is foolish.

Sergei Kharatonov
Ricardo Arona
Pedro Rizzo
Renato Sobral
Jeremy Horn

Carlos Condit. 30 wins. 15 submissions, 13 KOs, 2 decisions. Never KO'ed in 40 total fights.

People crapped on him for the Diaz fight but he's the one of the most consistent (and varied) finisher of all time and had a chin of steel.

And he should have been WW champion.
