In your opinion, how often should a champion defend their belt?

Twice a year?
Three times a year?

Aldo defended his belt 9 times in just under 5 years.
Jones defended his belt 8 times in just under 4 years.
GSP defended 9 times in just under 6 years.
DJ has defended 11 times in just under 5 years.

Anderson Silva is more difficult as he took on other fights that were not title defenses but since winning the belt against Rich Franklin, he fought 14 times in 8 years till his last successful defense against Bonnar.

Twice a year would be perfect. Would allow some time for legitimate challengers to emerge.

Once a year minimum or automatic strip.

If theirs contenders, 3 times a year assuming no injuries. Injuries obviously need time to heal

Not trying to avoid your question semantically, but the first thing that came to my mind was at least 3 times every 2 years.

Twice a year if fights go the distance otherwise if you have first round KO's 3 times a year.

two title defences a year plus a showcase fight to add to their highlight reel like when anderson beat forest or fedor beating zulu

Preferabl twice a year but the only guys that seem to keep that pace are woodley and DC. Hopefully Holloway does too.

...stipe too but he went awhile up until ngannou

Defend once a year minimum but shoild be able to have none title figths also

This is wrong, tune up or showcase fights should not exist
