but about punching in MMA and in boxing...

Conor is reputed as perhaps the greatest puncher in the history of MMA's lower weight classes.

Yet boxing pundits trashed his punching power citing MayMac as evidence.
They say Floyd, at 40 years of age, did not fear his power like he feared Canelo's, Cotto's, and Pacquiao's.

Which begs the question:

If Conor can punch so successfully in MMA, why not in boxing?

Round 3 Conor is the GOAT nose wiper.

Landing effective punches is about more than just pure power. It's a lot harder to land effective punches on an elite boxer under boxing rules using boxing gloves. It's also not a stretch at all to assume that plenty of elite boxers likely punch harder than McGregor since literally all of their training involves throwing and defending only punches.

"I'm so sorry to bring this up again"

Then either don't - or at least admit that you aren't sorry.

Well because he was fighting Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match...

Doesn't matter how hard you punch if you can't be effective and it's really, really hard to be effective against Floyd.

different gloves, different weight, different rules, different angles, different SPORT

Love it TS.....Love it. Quality thread man....

This gif is just amazing. Unreal understanding of distance.
Oh please. He didn't even try to snap that. I believe he had just hit him with 1 jab prior to that. Look at Conor's face. He looks like he's about to pass out. That McGregor Fast program better be in the bushes. Useless.

Boxers punch harder and take punches mpre well.
Mma has shitty defense , most hang the hands low and chin high.

Different reasons already explained in this forum 1000x.

1- There are different variables in MMA. Conor also uses his kicks to set up punches which makes it easier to catch his opponent with his guard down. In Boxing there is no danger of kicks so his opponents are 100% focused on defending punches.

2- The guys that he beat in MMA don't have elite boxing skills. Beating someone who is less skilled sometimes makes you look better than you really are. All the mistakes his opponents make, a good boxer wouldn't make.

It's more than that. It also shows an understanding of Conor's fear. Floyd knows Conor's been smacked a two or three times and that's enough to be sure that he's done coming forward at that point.
