If you were a UFC fighter would you want your wife/girlfriend in your corner like some fighters?

Now I've noticed some fighters have their girlfriends or wives with them during the weigh ins or even in their corners like Sam alvey does for examples. If I was a fighter in the ufc, I personally would never have my girlfriend with me during fight week let alone anywhere close to me during weigh ins or during fights in my corner. That would feel like a huge distraction from me having complete focus, and personally I would not live with her or sleep her or anyone else for at least 3 weeks before the fight just for 100 percent focus on my opponent.

I just think it's a stupid idea to have a woman in my corner or around fight week distracting me. What would you do? Would you want them with you or would you opt towards having them away so you can have total focus and strictly have your coaches only? Also If you don't have a girlfriend or wife or whatever, this is hypothetical to just pretend you did during the time,.

I imagine you lying in bed thinking about this stuff...

Personally would not bother me at all. Shes there for encouragement and if she wants to, sure, I'll allow her to come.

In fact, they should have a "no girls allowed" policy at all UFC events, because it distracts fighters from the competition.

    No, I would not.

I'll take Firas or Hooft, though!

My wife and I have a pretty good give/take relationship. However, throw in adrenaline, exhaustion, blood, pain, overall primal aspects of fighting, and we might get a divorce when the fight is over.

Might be the opposite though, if she'd stuck with me through years of training and fighting.

Do you fight or compete at all? Or is this just a theory you have?
Also do you have a significant other or children? I could definitely say being away from someone for 3 weeks is hard on both parties and it's easier just to have them there.

No, women don't know enough about the sport to be productive corners.

No fucking way. When shit goes down my wife is a fucking liability. Being near anyone who cares for you when there's about to be a fight is a bad idea unless they're willing to fight too (assuming a streetfight or something).

In my corner - most likely not. Around while I trained? Damn right. I have a hard time not seeing my daughter if she's with a friend for the weekend - I wouldn't want to go weeks without seeing her (she's 6 - I imagine I'd have a different opinion if she was a teenager). Also, it depends on what motivates you. Your family is the reason you are fighting and trying to make a better life. If having them around motivates you more, then they need to be there.

Some coaches in several sports tell their athletes not to have orgasms before events because it saps their strength.

Sounds like a good idea but the coach of the 2014 world champion Germany football team told the players they could smoke, drink and have sex all they wanted.
