Friend that was 82nd came out here to visit once and was hanging with me and a buddy that was MARSOC (not me, never served, my friend)
"Why the FUCK do the marines and MARSOC guys always steal Army gear?"
"Cause our shit is handmedowns from fucking Vietnam... the 1st Gulf War if we're lucky"
"So that gives you a right to steal our PEC4s?"
"You each get like 20 spares"
The stuff my Marine buddy said he would grab was shit like gloves, ALL the batteries, spare maps, ALL the magazines, and would trade out all the charms for the MREs and leave the Army guys with nothing but the veggie MREs.If someone stole serialized gear while we were doing it, I imagine there would have been a shit storm that same day! We stole petty things like batteries, gloves, eye pro, extra magazines, and especially their best MREs. I wouldn't have dared touch their "real" gear that they needed to operate.
In the Marines, you always put someone on gear watch. The Army didn't operate like that. They'd drop gear and walk away, which is like a dinner bell for vultures, aka Marine grunts, and boy were we fucking hungry. I mean we were literally so low on essential gear it was pathetic.
I'm still in the IRR so they would just say "hey CPT ProtectandServe, get your ass back in multicam."
It's definitely the lowest bar I've ever seen someone set for denying someone's service to the country. In all fairness to great memories, my best memories of the US Army are the days they left their gear unattended when they'd stop at our patrol base and we got to upgrade our shitty Marine Corps issued gear with their cool stuff. Never stole anything they'd really need. Just all their cool extra stuff like Oakley PPE and shit. They literally had boxes of extra shit in the back of their trucks.
So.... I guess I'm saying thanks for all the gear you let us steal!
Isn't the biggest joke in the military though at the expense of 2nd Lts that can't read a map/do land nav course and upper end officers that try to earn full bird's and stars off the back of grunts?I mean read this guys posting, he seems like English is his second language, not a educated officer.
