If there was a draft tomorrow for WWIII, would you show up?

Friend that was 82nd came out here to visit once and was hanging with me and a buddy that was MARSOC (not me, never served, my friend)
"Why the FUCK do the marines and MARSOC guys always steal Army gear?"
"Cause our shit is handmedowns from fucking Vietnam... the 1st Gulf War if we're lucky"
"So that gives you a right to steal our PEC4s?"
"You each get like 20 spares"

If someone stole serialized gear while we were doing it, I imagine there would have been a shit storm that same day! We stole petty things like batteries, gloves, eye pro, extra magazines, and especially their best MREs. I wouldn't have dared touch their "real" gear that they needed to operate.

In the Marines, you always put someone on gear watch. The Army didn't operate like that. They'd drop gear and walk away, which is like a dinner bell for vultures, aka Marine grunts, and boy were we fucking hungry. I mean we were literally so low on essential gear it was pathetic.

When you read the book I actually end up feeling bad for Sobel.

Guy was never the same after being relived of Command and tried to commit suicide at least twice and blamed Easy Company for all his woes. Guarnere and Toye tried to reach out is my understanding shortly before he passed.

The stuff my Marine buddy said he would grab was shit like gloves, ALL the batteries, spare maps, ALL the magazines, and would trade out all the charms for the MREs and leave the Army guys with nothing but the veggie MREs.

Some dude in his squad nicked one of those IR designators that are mounted on the gun and everyone freaked out and he was like "THERE WERE 4 OF THEM IN THIS BAG WITH ANOTHER ONE ON THE GUN TIED ONTO THE BAG! Fuck em"

I'm still in the IRR so they would just say "hey CPT ProtectandServe, get your ass back in multicam."

It's definitely the lowest bar I've ever seen someone set for denying someone's service to the country. In all fairness to great memories, my best memories of the US Army are the days they left their gear unattended when they'd stop at our patrol base and we got to upgrade our shitty Marine Corps issued gear with their cool stuff. Never stole anything they'd really need. Just all their cool extra stuff like Oakley PPE and shit. They literally had boxes of extra shit in the back of their trucks.

So.... I guess I'm saying thanks for all the gear you let us steal!

Reading is fundamental, because one of us questioned the others service first, and it wasn't me.

Depends on who 'we' are fighting.
If it is against all muslims, sign me up.

I mean read this guys posting, he seems like English is his second language, not a educated officer.
Isn't the biggest joke in the military though at the expense of 2nd Lts that can't read a map/do land nav course and upper end officers that try to earn full bird's and stars off the back of grunts?

Sure, but that is mostly learned stuff. Only the guys from the sticks show up knowing how to read a map.

Even infantry officers push paper most of the day. Tends to make for good sentence structure.

If this was actually WWII sure I'd probably be on of the guys getting blown up on D-Day but hopefully I could take out a couple krauts....today? Nah man but I would sign up for that coveted drone pilot position.....my trademark would be dropping my favorite porn scenes before my payload

I scored way too high on the ASVAB to see combat brother.

Already Did 3 years, 1 deployment, but if they drafted me (can they?) I would probably show up just for a chance at some life changing action!

I personally don't believe there is any justifiable reason to invade any country unless they pose a direct threat, nor would i support any Trivial reasons the would set off ww3, but alas, this is/would be the stage our másters have set, so I dance.

You'd honestly have to be a dumbass if you're willing to die for fucking Syria. What do we get out of that shithole? If we win then ISIS and other jihadists rule the country. If we lose then Assad keeps it.

Besides, with nukes involved the draft is obsolete. It's like training for years for a fight.... only for the other guy to pull out a machinegun.

I think I'm probably too old for the draft. So there's that...

Wouldn't have a choice. That's how drafts work.

Only time I'd ever show up for the draft is if the US was ever invaded and war was at our doorstep. Anything else akin to a Vietnam fuck no
