If Bo Jackson concentrated on baseball, he might/might not have been another Mickey Mantle

    1. Jackson had similar physical gifts - incredible speed and power - they both were built like bodybuilders
    2. Jackson should have been able to play center field - he had the speed and a great arm
    3. Jackson's big problem was strike outs - Mantle struck out a lot too but learned strike zone judgement and walked an enormous amount created a great OBA. If Jackson had gone into baseball right after high school he might have reached that level.
    4. On the other hand, Mantle (a natural righty like Jackson) had learned how to switch hit.
    5. I don't think Jackson would have quite reached Mantle's level but he would have been able to consistently hit an OBA of 360 or so, 40 homers, and solid work in CF.
6, 15 years of that and you are in the HOF.
    7. He shouldn't have fucked around with football.

He should have stuck to baseball since he sucked in the NFL. His avg season was less then 700 rushing yards, less then 100 receiving yards, less then 5 td's per season.

This is a flawed analysis. He split carries with Marcus Allen. To tell me that Bo Jackson wasn't a success at the NFL level is a crock of shit.

Raider fans want to ignore stats. lol...Puig over Trout on potential, athletic ability, and tools to then. Forget stats.

Wanted no part of the Bills so let a linebacker run him down from behind.

He was great at football but you simply can't do both at a top tier professional level. I am not saying he would have hit Mantle's numbers but I think he would have easily hit 500 HRs if he had stuck exclusively to baseball right after high school. I am assuming that he could have "learned" strike zone judgement and that assumption works for some players (Duke Snider) and not for others. His goal should have to be walk at least as often as he struck out. He definitely had the physical gifts to be a top notch CF - maybe not a Mays, but probably at least as good as Mantle in the field.

Bo's broken hip would have been immediately diagnosed with today's technology and we'd be witnessing the most amazing athlete of a generation.

The doctors didn't even think his injury was even possible at the time.

Bo would have at best been a .270 career hitter. He'd have won a bunch of gold gloves, hit 400-500 HR, stole 300-400 bases and struck out as much as Adam Dunn. So a good career, but not even close to Mantle.

Bo Jackson wasn't half the hitter Mantle was.

Actually thought Bo should have just done football. He was amazing on the gridiron. In baseball, he could hit a mistake 800 feet, but he wasn't a very good hitter. Defensively he was great, but so what? He was phenomenal running the ball in football. Lol at Foster posting his season totals when he never came close to playing a full season and split carries with Marcus Allen when he did play.

Put up the stats or it means nothing. Being athletic? Many people have been but did nothing with it. Puig > Trout if stats don't matter and just being a good athlete. lol...
