I found it hard to believe too until I looked at some of these facts and numbers. Take a look:

Aldo had 5 fights in WEC before going for his TS.
All 5 fights ended in KO/TKO... 3 of them in the 1st round... 3 KO of the night. One of them was the most incredible knee KO ever imo, in 7 seconds over Swanson.

Got his TS and became FW champ in the biggest org for small fighters, WEC.

In WEC, Aldo had 3 successful title fights before the WEC - UFC merge. Then he had another 7 successful title fights including wins over Florian, Edgar, Korean Zombie, and a fight of the year against Mendes.

Before the Conor loss, Aldo was on a 15 fight winning streak considering only WEC - UFC. 10 sucessful title fights (or 9 successful title defenses, if you prefer).

After the devastating loss, he bounced back and became FW champ again.

That´s a total of 11 wins in 12 title fights. Plus the fact he never popped for steroids.

Now let´s compare all the goat candidates numbers of championship fights:

Aldo: Total of 12 fights. He is 11 - 1. (loss to McGregor)
Demetrious Johnson: 11 - 1 (loss to Dominick)
GSP is currently 12 - 2 (losses to Hughes and Serra)
Silva is currently 11 - 2. (2 losses to Weidman)

Bottom line is, opinions apart, the fact remains: if Aldo beats Holloway, he will have 12 wins with only 1 loss in championship fights. And that´s better than Silva and GSP.

GSP avenged his losses.

J/K not fair because Connor will never grant a rematch to anyone he beats.

Why would he grant a rematch to a pull out merchant in a division he already left for dead?

Yeah, Aldo's fucking awesome and arguably the most complete fighter the sport has ever seen. Shame one bad performance he will never get the chance to avenge has turned him into a bum in a lot of foolish peoples eyes.

Unfortunately for aldo the main thing people will remember from his career is the Conor KO. He is one of the greats though. Wouldn't put him ahead of Silva or GSP however.

It's got nothing to do with cleaning out a division Conor was killing himself to make weight to beat up on smaller fighters.

He's definitely more complete than both but Silva's highlight reel is unrivalled in the sport.

Yep, the "Big 5" are very fucking close in terms of legacy.

Fedor, GSP, Silva, Aldo, Jones. All are amazing.

MM is about to make it six, if not already.

Aldo is already top 10 p4p fighters of all time. If you look at the range and level of skill sets he displays in his fights at the top of a very stacked division; there is no denying he is one of the best.

Youngest champion in UFC history (yes, h as technically by a fw months younger than jones)
7 title defenses, 11-1 in title fights
18 fight win streak and went nearly a decade undefeated
14 knockouts, and 9 came in the first round
Maintained TDD against NCAA Divsion 1 wrestlers
One of the best strikers in MMA history

One loss based off unintelligent and emotional attitude on Aldo's part, can't discredit over a decade of excellence and dominance. Especially since Aldo can literally do nothing about the loss. Mcgregor is never gonna fight FW again, let alone give Aldo the rematch.

Aldo is one of the greatest fighters of all time. Conor is just better.

I'd definitely argue that he's already there. MM has effectively defined the 125 lb division, though I think to the detriment of the health of the division.

Aldo is a legit goat, the mcgregor loss is by most accounts, a 'freak' fight. Nine times out of ten he doesn't get caught in that fight, and then, who knows.....

And since, Aldo has only proved his worth, whereas silva has lost his value as a p4p top fighter, due to asada violations and significant losses, and GSP (bless) has been warming the couch.

Aldo is better than GSP/Silva, as good as they are. It just the nature of mma, everyone loses eventually. The, mcgregor loss would count for more if he got wasted over five rounds, but he didn't.....

Fuck I'm drunk right now....

"It's not opinion, it's fact!" *States Opinion* Get real dude.

9/10 doesn't get caught yet 1/1 he did. Kinda wild assumption you have there.

Lol. Paper champ 4 life.
13seconds.

But you're welcome to "YOUR OPINIONS".

Why would he grant a rematch to a pull out merchant in a division he already left for dead?
Because he tapped out and was given a second chance immediately
And he said "we can do it again " after the fight with Aldo

It's a shame we won't ever see a rematch with Conor

What would have happened to GSP legacy if he hadn't had the opportunity to avenge his Serra's loss?

What about Conor if he hadn't had the opportunity to avenge his Nate's loss?

Even the bigger boxing superestar ever, Floyd, has given rematches when needed (Maidana, JL Castillo, and offered Ortiz a rematch although he was dirty as fuck trying to headbutt him)

dude, you know as well I do that mcgregor was even surprised by how fast it was over. mcgregor is good and I don't doubt it, but it was a genuine wtf knockout that doesn't get repeated too often.
