The IBF, looking to produce mandatory challengers for champions Robert Easter Jr. and Gervonta Davis, has ordered a pair of eliminator bouts: Richard Commey vs. Alejandro Luna at lightweight and Tevin Farmer vs. Francisco Fonseca five pounds south.

Negotiations must conclude by August 4th or else purse bids will be ordered.

Commey (25-2, 22 KO), who recently signed with Lou DiBella, came agonizingly close to the title in his brawl with Easter last year, then lost an eliminator against Denis Shafikov by the skin of his teeth three months later. He returned to his native Ghana in March and took a decision over Hedi Slimani.

Luna (22-0, 15 KO), a PBC regular, earned the biggest win of his career in April with a decision over Andrey Klimov. “El Charro” is just 25 and will be making a considerable step up against Commey, but Commey took a considerable step up against Easter and gave him hell, so this should be interesting.

Farmer (25-4-1, 5 KO) is riding an eighteen-fight winning streak and has some history with Davis, which could make for some fun back-and-forth if he gets through the unbeaten-but-untested Fonseca (19-0-1, 13 KO).

Fun fact: Farmer is currently ranked #5 by the IBF, whose top two slots are vacant. #4 is Kenichi Ogawa. #3 is Billy Dib.
