Which list of fighters is superior (considering them as they were at the time)?
Has the sport progressed at all in the heavyweight division??

What do you think?

(Rankings from fight matrix, if someone can dig out the sherdog rankings from that time we can do another comparison).

All I know is. I believe Stipe would beat that entire top 10.

You want a 10 v 10 breakdown ????

In a street fight I take the new breed easily.

2005 because Fedor is the goat.

More variety and less old guys in 2005.

There are some MONSTERS at the top of HW 2017 though.

2005 wins for consistency

A bunch of names cross over into the new division which shows it hasn't progressed much. Afew new faces as the older guys age.

I dont really think the best guys in 06 would lose to the best guys today in most divisions.

One dominant skill still wins fights, and the individual components of MMA have existed forever.

We still have guys with a career background in wrestling or one striking discipline learning the other components and dominating after 5 or so years of MMA training.

This was the case in 05 and it's still the case in 17'.

More skill, more youth, and more toughness in 2005.

2005 list put on classic fights on a regular basis. That's why they are superior.

Lmao he almost lost to Overeem.
How the hell do you figure he almost lost to Overeem if he KOed him in the FIRST round. You must be an angry Fedor fanboy due to my statement. So your stupid came out
