So much for "only catholic church" argument. This is happening in all forms of organized religion across the US. The whole "find a small private church" to avoid sexual abuse bull shit doesn't fly. Same old story of cover ups and no charges. How can God exist and let this happen to thousands upon thousands of children in houses preaching his word and bearing his name?

At least three other teen girls would accuse Hyles of sexual misconduct, but he never faced charges or even sat for a police interview related to the accusations. When he got in trouble, Hyles was able to simply move on, from one church assignment to the next.

Hyles’ flight to safety has become a well-worn path for ministers in the independent fundamental Baptist movement.

For decades, women and children have faced rampant sexual abuse while worshiping at independent fundamental Baptist churches around the country. The network of churches and schools has often covered up the crimes and helped relocate the offenders, an eight-month Star-Telegram investigation has found.

When did people believe this was only Catholics? Millions of American christians follow crackpot sexual systems like Bill Gothard's Quiverfull movement.

In short, those who abstain from sex while telling you what to do in your sex life are not to be trusted.

Rationalizing is their way....

Non catholics will tell you it's only a Catholic issue

Anyone who argued "only Catholics" is just in denial.

They'll also tell you that Catholics are not christians. Rationalizing and faith are pretty easy in the face of actually having to admit the utter moral famine of your doctrine, and the darkness it's teachings so often can be relied upon to nurture.

Always be on your guard. Pedos find their way to positions where they ave power over kids. Priests, teachers, counselors, kid sport volunteers, what have you. These people will be there, and always have been there. They having a title doesn't make them safe, always be careful, just not paranoid

This is a problem in every organization where kids are supervised by non-biological parents, including secular ones.

However, if these cases, which date back to the 1940s, justify a federal probe, then the 520 cases of child rape and sex abuse in the Chicago Public Schools since 2008 should move President Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions to take swift action as well.

Back in June, a Chicago Tribune investigation uncovered 523 credible cases of rape and sexual abuse of students in CPS over the last ten years. Mayor Rahm Emanuel, a Democrat, has been in office eight of those years. No federal action was taken by President Barack Obama during his eight years in office either.

And that is just the Chicago Public Schools.

Funny how outrage and media coverage is greater when it comes to Christian institutions than when it comes to secular ones.

Within a month of the initial reporting, the Football Association, the Scottish Football Association, several football clubs and over 20 UK police forces had established various inquiries and investigations and over 350 alleged victims had come forward. By July 2018, 300 suspects were reported to have been identified by 849 alleged victims, with 2,807 incidents involving 340 different clubs.

How many people even know or care about the abuse in soccer? Would they ever be equally harsh in judging the system in which the abuses were made? Would anyone go so far to declare soccer itself as being conductive to sexual abuse of minors?

Answers to these questions are leading me to believe that there is much more interest in bashing Christianity than in being aware of the sexual abuse itself and trying to help the victims.

The difference is that soccer doesn't preach that it imparts morality on its participants, it's just a set of rules for playing a social game. Religions are specifically in the business of morality so when it is discovered that widespread child abuse is occurring it becomes a glaring contradiction of values. That many churches have heard about the abuses and have hushed the subject or moved offenders on, perpetuating the abuse, is even more heinous.

That said, there is still regular reporting on sports where this sort of things happen - Diving in the US, swimming in Australia - it is not subject to the same degree of media attention.

My last observation is that you should be careful of the perception you are giving which is that you are a Christian and are deflecting. No-one is personally accusing you or your particular gathering, but there is a sickness out there which has be dealt with which we should all be on board for.

I've never heard somebody give that argument

This is happening in all forms of organized religion across the US.

This is happening anywhere adults have power/control over kids. Anybody acting like this is clearly acting against Biblical doctrine

Why does God allow evil to exist in the world? Lets see how open minded you are. Give me a couple reasons why God might allow evil to exist for the time being?

BINGO

Sexual abuse will happen anywhere there is people.

I don't think that the absence of preaching some values makes sexual abuse any less scandalous. Actually, the values being preached by the molesters should be put under scrutiny as much as they were conductive in creating conditions in which sexual abuse happened. So in this cases the problem was in putting to much trust in the institutions rather than in any kind of Christian beliefs, which makes it pointless to criticize religion based on it as much as would be pointless to criticize soccer. What should be criticized are the individuals and institutions responsible for this rather than religion.

My last observation is that you should be careful of the perception you are giving which is that you are a Christian and are deflecting. No-one is personally accusing you or your particular gathering, but there is a sickness out there which has be dealt with which we should all be on board for.

Problem is, many people are accusing Christianity and religion as a whole even if, like you said, this sickness is actually in glaring contradiction to Christian values. There is absolutely no problem in genuinely dealing with any kind of abuse when it's not being used for propaganda against the values being held by billions of people around the world.

It is almost as if people who want to abuse children get into positions where they are more likely to be around children. People need to be careful who they let around their kids.
*EDIT* God allows man free will, that is why there is evil.

Yea it is also a public school issue
Rationalizing and faith are pretty easy in the face of actually having to admit the utter moral famine of your doctrine, and the darkness it's teachings so often can be relied upon to nurture.
What drivel, there was a much easier way to construct your thoughts without the flowery language you reread and wank to. You missed a few commas son.
and the darkness it's teachings so often can be relied upon to nurture.
Derp
so often can be relied upon

The question was not why does God allow evil. It was why does he allow people to preach his word and abuse kids in churches bearing his name and then allow other people in the high church positions to cover up the a use . Meanwhile the child is praying to God every night for it to stop and nothing happens. It's almost as if prayer is worthless other than a mental exercise to bring false hope?

It's such a shame that I won't be alive to see the end of the shared mass delusion that supernatural beings exist who control our lives

If humans were already perfect and god-like, there would be no need for religions.
