Would the right go after him harder than Obama? Would the left defend him like his supporters on the right currently do?

This thread was inspired by the alternative reality thought experiments played out by the man in the high castle.

Let's not get too serious here guys

If he could have stuck to running on policy, since he was a liberal all the way until Obama got elected, he might have won and Democrats would have supported him except that he's still a deceitful piece of shit who can't open his mouth without lying. He also cares more about adulation than he does about the work of the office. That would not have changed, so, he pretty much would have been shit down a hole.

His character is a poor fit for left-wing populism.

It's really an impossible thing to answer, since he would have to be an entirely different person, with a different personal history, a different rhetorical approach, and most of all a different policy platform to have run as a Democrat.

But, suspending all logic and stipulating that he somehow was a Democrat, I don't think Republicans -- either the politicians or voters -- would go after him at all. The politicians wouldn't because he's furthering the GOP's effort toward upwardly distributing wealth, pealing away all public interest protections, and institutionalizing corporate corruption. The voters wouldn't because he's echoing their personal beliefs and fears re immigrants.

The "if he ran and won" as a Democrat may already be stretching it too far.

His type of rhetoric and million lies a minute style would not work with a D next to his name.

Not to mention he would have been purged after the sexual harassment accusations came out as Dems tend to throw you to the wolves with allegations.

I don't know how he would do as a Democrat, but pretty sure he's gonna do a second term as a Republican.

Democrats don't really like his sort of aggressive grandstanding, which is why left wing talk radio isn't a thing.

Like a cunt that hates the environment, lies all the time, and has to pay whores for sex.

Bill was a Democratic pres, didn’t stop him from getting blown in the Oval Office. Behind closed doors counts to your public personality as well when you’re at the level. Trump would have probably did ok .

the first time they realised he was an actual moron he would be laughed out the room, he wouldnt get past any sort of selection process

Guy, Maxine Waters is a thing with that party. Are you joking?

Left wingers have joined the 21st century and dont use radio.

:p

I know you're being folksy, but "left wing radio" is probably bigger now than it ever was, what with NPR and podcasts. The American left just doesn't have the appetite for outrage and, as another poster said, grandstanding in the same way that the right does. The right has always dominated radio and (partisan) television. And they now dominate the saturated landscape of small partisan/fake news outlets, as there just isn't much of a market for those little swindler outfits on the left.

The left mostly consumes their news and opinions through minimally legitimized outlets, which is why the worst of the left (Occupy Democrats, apparently CNN now) is worlds better than the worst of the right (Gateway Pundit, Fox News, etc.)

He wouldn't have won the nominee for the Democratic party based on the sexual allegations. Plus, Hilary being an establishment figure and a woman would have given her the edge anyway.

There's a reason Waters was never even able to set up an exploratory committee, much less make a run.
