Gus boxes Luke up for a stoppage win.

If Luke tries to take Gus down, that won't work either. This is a freak that stuffed all of Jones' TD attempts, and most of Cormier's.

Probably the worst possible match-up for Luke

Gus would fuck Luke up. Rockhold is a really good fighter, but his division is a shark tank right now. I think he could beat some good fighters at LHW and make a run for the title once DC vacates. But he wouldn't get past Gustaffson.

    Nuff said.

Luke's two major advantages at MW were that he had the range over almost all his opponents and he was devastating on top if he somehow got the superior position. He won't have the range on Gus, and short of a freak accident he won't be getting top position on the Swede, either.

This would not be a good idea for Luke, but like he says, he's getting older and weight cutting is getting harder for him

A lot of matchups for Rockhold @ lhw are not looking good imo. I would pick OSP, Manuwa, Gus, etc to beat him. Hell, I even think Latifi could be trouble

Look at it like this, at least Luke has a UFC and Strikeforce belt at home. I don't have anything really bad to say about the guy, but he probably won't be getting another belt..

What I think he should do is take some time to patch his holes, start developing new ways to approach fights, and think of new game plans. I would actually like to see him take some time off first and foremost.

Legit might be the worst match-up for Luke in all of MMA near his weight class

Rockhold is fucked at LHW. I have a hard time picking him against any of the top guys.

1 Alexander Gustafsson - Gus by TKO R2

2 Glover Teixeira - Glover by KO R3

2 Volkan Oezdemir - Volkan by KO R1

4 Jimi Manuwa - Manuwa by KO R1

5 Ovince Saint Preux - OSP by KO R2

    6 Mauricio Rua - <DCrying>

7 Misha Cirkunov - Rockhold by TKO R2

8 Corey Anderson - Rockhold by DEC

8 Ilir Latifi - Rockhold by DEC

10 Patrick Cummins - Rockhold by TKO R2

    11 Jan Blachowicz - Jan B by TKO R3

12 Tyson Pedro - Rockhold by DEC

13 Gadzhimurad Antigulov - Rockhold by TKO R3

14 Gian Villante - Rockhold by TKO R2

15 Jared Cannonier - Rockhold by submission R3

Yeah, it doesn't seem like a good matchup for Rockhold. He isn't a wrestler or takedown artist, he doesn't have good boxing skills, especially concerning defense, and he won't have the height and reach advantage that he normally relies on.

Rockhold does better against DC than he does against Gus. Of course, he'll never fight DC...

Luke isn't getting his down. Gus took DC down even. This is coming from a big time luke fan but he should fight any 205r not named gus 1st. Thays a rough start for anyone at lhw even a guy as talented as luke

Usually when a fighter moves up a division, he has the speed advantage, like Whittaker and Gastelum for example. I just don´t see the same thing happening to Luke. I think he´d still be a little slow. Just like Teixeira would still be slow at HW. Their game is based on strength, power and technique but not so much speed.
