Funniest thing is, thats exactly what happened. Ive had noobs arguing with me since saturday night that Conor was changing levels to sprawl in this sequence... hes not about to sprawl at all, hes looking for his step back counter left but Khabib just beats him to the spot. Great call.

I argued with one too. Khabib knew his pull counter and baited the specialist. LOL
Full power and all he did was slightly drop Conor. Pillow fists.

Khabib arched his body low as if he was going for a takedown. Conor let his arms down (and looks down) to defend the takedown. It was a feint. Khabib punches him right in the face.
It's a very good example of how the takedown threat facilitates strikes. And Khabib's takedown threat is inmense.
And tbh that's also the reason those casuals were misled into thinking that Khabib's striking is sloppy. It isn't. Khabib is very good at striking in an ambiguous way where you can't tell if what's coming is a punch or a hug.

Conor was really off. I was expecting a much more competitive fight. I bet it will be a lot more competitive in the rematch.

Not at all... khabib feinted a jab and conor steps back and looks to throw his patented left hand counter. He even paws with the lead hand to gauge the distance just as he did with Aldo and Alvarez. Khabib just beat him to the mark as ive stated. Conor never thought about stopping a takedown, he was thinking about landing a left on Khabibs chin.
