How to get max power into your punches?

Theres alot to this skill alot of advanced information on it just to get the basics perfect.

I answered a thread just made mere on "sitting down" on the punch and there was huge depth just on 1 part of maximizing power.

So can we get the whole caboodle in 1 thread? For maximizing power in the punch.

If you need a specific punch we can make it the straight right.

Rooting, sitting down, leg use, hip use, weight transfer, shoulder use, shoulder snap, turning the fist over, gripping hard at impact, power line, stepping into the punch, etc etc etc there's alot to it
 
Id like to see you cover everything possible for the right cross, then others can answer and together we can make sure our punchers are perfect if we pool our knowledge I will start us off

Improve on it if you can



1) get a good stance and sit down in your stance bending at the hips, the knees, especially the the rear knee, also mash the weight into your rear foot, stay down the whole time dont rise up

2) rotate from the right foot which should get a powerful response from your hips and drive from the leg also, foot firmly connected to the floor with weight and friction

3) pull the rear shoulder back as the weight comes around while staying relaxed as possible throughout, keeping the kinetic linking in tact, dragging the shoulder and arm behind the hip

4) transferring weight from rear foot to front catch weight on front foot if he doesn't catch it on the chin

5) get a shoulder snap as your whole body weight comes around

6) aim the shot at a weak point, as he comes towards you, and judge distance to make sure the punch reaches full extension for further snap, aim for a 3 inch penetration

7) at the last moment rotate the fist over for further snap and then clench the fist for further power, connection should be made with the two biggest knuckles in a straight as possible line from the fist to the rear foot, vertical fist and mostly middle knuckle can be used also for a better power line

Also relax. Look at the best boxers with the nicest punches.

And by relax I just mean be loose (not tense), not lacking energy

I see a lot of kickboxers doing this wrong, and it makes a huge difference. You can follow all the other steps, but if you bleed out force from a faulty structure that cannot keep and transmit the force efficiently, you're losing most of what you worked for..

you mean using straight lines as much as possible with the skeleton, using usually the biggest bones, and connection to the ground? When you connect?

Plus maintaining the ground connection and generating power from the foot up?

There's a lot to it. Shoulders, hips, back and legs, any of those could and often are "held" wrong and it ruins the whole dynamic (not even counting balance, which is also crucial). The person doing it usually has no idea whatsoever, and when you try to tell them they often don't want to believe it so they just keep doing their own crappy mimic job of what they think looks "okay" to them.

Sano posted a good link with a lot of principles. You should be able to feel and see the difference when you punch with correct body posture as opposed to incorrect.
