sort of on the subject but if ur having an amateur fight and ur instructor corners u, how does that work paying him? i understand the 10% of a purse if ur a professional

Why are you answering these questions as though you have a clue what you're talking about?

Basically nothing, just to get my foot in the door (in 2000). There was hardly any money in it back then. Basically, the guys I trained with fought when it wasn't wrestling season or some other high season for combat our combat sport, which is to say that we spent money, and did not make it.

You don't get paid much starting out. A friend of mine had 3 or 4 amateur fights before calling it quits made under a thousand total for all his fights. He trains for fun/workout now.

just to clear this up. At the Ammy level you CAN NOT get paid. Otherwise you are a pro. Any state with a commission will not allow you to compete as an amateur if you have been paid. You can get things such as travel money, or have your room and food paid for. And so many people in here have no idea what they are talking about lol

Are you sure they weren't "professional" fights?

Maybe. I assumed they were classified as amateur since they were tiny local shows.

My first pro fight I made $600 to lose. I fought Curtis Demarce, who has since made a living in the MFC. I had no pro fights and he had 7 or 8. We ended up getting fight of the night, though and it was a back and forth battle until the end.

Some promotions pay more then others, but from what I've heard and seen they pay $500 - $1000 for first fights.

I was offered 300 to show and 200 to win for my first fight but I was in a car accident and never got to have my pro debut.

How do you make a living if yall only fight once every few months to make only a couple hundred $$$ with all of the training expenses, and including all of your other bills you have in your life? It seems like to able perform at your best ability, and fight professionally, you would have to quit work, and train 100% of the time, but live in absolute poverty. Do most entry level pro fighters sacrifice training time to put in an 8 hour workday?

I made $300 for my first fight, I won a one night tournament in California, Finishing all three opponent and made $1200 Champion Purse and $300 Finishing for finishing bonus. ($100 each) totaling $1500 for my largest pay day. The rest of my fights never went under $500 and no more that $1100

I made $150 my first fight fight( would have been $350 oif i had won). then over the course of my next 26 fights i made anywhere from the afformentioned $350 all the way up to i got $11000 was my best payday. That was however with $6000 worth of bonuses for a cold knock out and fight of the night. I dont think i made more than $1000 until around my 15th fight though
