How is the mini-series BAND OF BROTHERS?

I think it's overrated (probably because I read the book first). The first episode and the Bastogne part are outstanding though.

My favorite series.

BoB is incomparable. It has no peers whatsoever in so far as miniseries are concerned.

10/10

True GOAT

Fucking terrible.

Jokes. I've watched it 3 times and I'll probably watch it again soon.

Bump for one of the greatest shows evah. Been rewatching it for the first time in a dozen years or so, holds up brilliantly. If you haven't seen it, you are doing yourself a disservice. Stop watching the crap you watch & watch this.

"Band Of Brothers" is perfection.

"The Pacific" is alright, but not in the same league. I thought it was rather disappointing actually, considering it was the same team who did BoB. I'd put Generation Kill above it.

But yeah, "Band Of Brothers"...get on that shit.

BoB is great. Still rewatch it at least once a year. The Pacific is good also but falls short when comparing it to BoB. Sort of like Casino is to Goodfellas.

I've recently finished Generation Kill. It was pretty good. I'd probably give it an 8.7/10 Looked great on Blu Ray too. From what I hear it was a true story and they even had two of the real people play themselves on the mini series. (Rudy and the reporter)

So now I'm itching for another good war mini series. How does Band of Brothers compare? What about The Pacific?

I've also heard that Das Boot was pretty well done. But idk if I'd enjoy the German perspective.

BoB is a GOAT level series.

Random trivia but the first episode came out 2 days before the Sept 11th attacks.

Yeah it sank the whole show at the time. The premiere did crazy ratings, it was gigantic... then 9/11 happened. And the show's viewership instantly died on the vine. No one wanted to watch war shit right after / during that. It still did great with critics & awards at the end of the year, and later had a huge resurgence on DVD, but the original airings got swept under the rug, and promotion stopped. Thanks Osama.

Memorable scene after memorable scene in BoB's. Just watched the German General's speech to his troops when they surrendered. Terrific stuff.

Band of Brothers is the best miniseries ever made and the best military anything ever made.

I just could not get into the Pacific. I bought it on blu ray and watched a couple episodes, but it just did not even compare.

Yep, HBO cut all promotion on the show and the last episode did half the first in ratings which usually would be a sign of a shitty show that can't hold viewers(kind of like how Walking Dead is now). DVD was such an interesting format at the time because it was a huge money maker for shows that didn't cut it in their original airings like Family Guy. Band of Brothers DVDs did a killing at the time in sales.
