Would Jones be able to nullify all that Fedor brings or would Fedors power and speed be too much for Bones?

Interesting matchup. For sure Jones would get numerous take downs in this one as Fedor's TDD was always weak. In the transitions and scrambles it'd be interesting to see what Fedor could land on Jonny and how well Bones held up against that kind of HW power. I'll say Fedor, but that's a very difficult fight to call as there are so many unknowns regarding Bones as a HW.

I think fedor arm bars him or knocks his head off. If Jones gets tagged by a slow Gus, then Fedor finishes him.

Nah Silva has about 60 lbs of muscle over Bones Jones, they both have been popped for peds so I can see the similarity there. Thats also Fedor past his prime. Nice try though.

I believe Fedor was still in his prime when he came to fight in America / Strikeforce. Considering I saw Werdum choke him, Bigfoot GNP him half way to China and then get ko'd by MW Hendo - I gotta think Bones would have destroyed him.

Fedor's tremendous core strength and Sambo/Judo base would make this matchup very interesting.

Fedor was not typically taken down by a more greco type td based on upper body control and leverage. His sambo and judo training made him generally the stronger guy in that type of grappling exchange. Jones however has proven himself a master of using leverage in these exchanges which you see so clearly in this exchange. He leans away. creates some small spaces and then uses leverage to throw. From that initial clinch position Fedor would likely try to move instantly get a body lock type position forcing Jones into a straight up body position thereby nullifying his leverage and then to execute a sambo/judo throw from there.

the question is who would implement their game and at this point I would go with the more powerful and stocky built Fedor.

You are free to believe what you want but this is how Fedor looked in his prime...

He was a beast and a bear of a man.

And this is how he looked during his SF years...

Really? As if Bones or any legit LHW nowadays is any smaller than Fedor. Plus mind you these are muscular guys, whereas even in his heyday Emilianenko was always carrying at least 5-10 pounds of excessive fat around his waist.

Also LOL at anyone who is super quick to undermine Fedor bys saying he got KOdby a MW as if Fedor was some guy who cuts to make HW.

Also,on topic, what here is considered as a prime JJ is probably the version before all the cocaine - drunkdriving - suspension rollercoaster.

Back then even though Bones was murdering,he had a lot of wholes in his striking game which Gus exposed somewhat. Also, all his crazy spins and jumps...wellI seem to remember Fedor KOing AA mid air. Fedor had insane explosiveness and timing with his striking and if Gus was able to fuck up JJ's face there is a good chance that Emilianenko could have caught him with some big.

Also if Vitor almost submitted JJ with that armbar,Fedor would have taken that whole arm home 100%.

What I am trying to say here is that Fedor stands better chance at beating JJ than ppl care to give him. Jones would be extremely difficult fight regardless. Not a walk in the park for neither fighter
